I thought Scott used the same varitone on the Bboxes as he does in the basses. So I guess I just have the standard varitone.

I got the idea to have Scott put the Bbox symbols around the varitone from looking at the Bboxes and thinking that the symbols would look cool on a bass. Adding a little flavor while keeping a standard Birdsong decoration.

The BBoxes have the same varitone kit that is in my Cortofusion prototype (to my knowledge, the later Fusions have tone knobs rather than varitones - although I may be mistaken).

That said, he might have used the same one for your bass - You're saying "setting 3" is your go-to - and that's generally the favorite for anyone who has tried my fusion.

All that said, adding the symbols was an inspired idea. I like it a lot.

Oh - and I covet the Walkabout scout. They've long been on my wish list.

7F-003 was spec'd with the Veritone. Shortly after I ordered the instrument, Scott changed the specs so that on subsequent Cortofusions the Vertione became an extra-cost option.

figured i might join the club and show off my bass. i dont get on talkbass very often, but i figured a little show and tell in the birdsong thread wouldnt hurt. here it is:

I'm still playing around with the varitone. The third position I've kinda taken a liking to. (Waves symbol for the Bbox users) The differences between the positions seem very subtle so I'll have to play with it a bit more to get ideas of where to use them. For now, I'm playing mostly in bypass.

I'm so glad to finally get it in my hands! :hyper:

Beautiful bass JeffSki. I like the varitona symbols as well. I wonder if i could get a wood control plate with those added... :)

Good to see you around, dude. Oh - and if my "casual review" hasn't gotten back to you through the grapevine or Myspace, the "Goodnight Goddess" stuff is sounding awesome.

cool man, thanks so much! playing and recording with those guys is a blast. hopefully we will be coming to a city near you in a few months.

oh, i've got an off topic question if thats allowed. has anyone here had any experience with an epiphone ripper re-issue?

I'm the original poster, so of course it's allowed....except that I have no authority to say yes.

Have you done a search?

Hello,
Just curious, I have had a Fender Mustang and Musicmaster bass and the problem I had was that it was difficult to get them to be be heard through the other instruments. I now use a Fender Jazz but was wondering how the Birdsong short scale performs in gigs.
Thanks

The first gig I where I used my Sadhana ended with the singer saying "Hey did you notice we could hear the bass tonight."

This was with the bridge hb soloed. I haven't used the neck sc with the band yet as the songs I've played so far are more suited by the hb. Although, I've got a practice this Saturday where I'll try the sc on a few songs so I'll post back with how it sounds with the band.
