Bit crusher? How important would it be for you?

I am considering a frantabit. Current pedels, in order, on the board include:
Subterranea
Holding place for oxide
Xerograph Deluxe
Cali76
Polytope
Nimbus
Micro thump.
Nice.

Depends on how you might set your Oxide (ie. Sustaining - vs - Gated)
I would pop the Bit crusher after any sustaining effects you like at the front of the chain, cos like has been said already, having some sustain before it definitely helps to keep those low bitrate tones useful.
I use the WMD Geiger Counter. Its good for heaps of very convincing fuzzy and OD tones aswell as the normal nuclear explosions.

EDIT: How useful you'll find a bit crusher will depend on how flexible it is > fuzz/drive sounds etc.

Neat! I feel like guitars never give me a clear idea on what a pedal sounds like on a bass. Of course neither do bass videos.....
I'll give it up for the better-made demo vids out there, though...they can help you put together a short list of things you might be interested in and weed out the things you're not. The good ones seem pretty accurate to the gear I've actually plugged into for the most part. And it's a lot better to have them than not. Back in my day, if it wasn't at your local music store, you had no idea what it sounded like at all. We also used to have to feed chickens and water the crops before we walked 8 miles to school every day in the snow. Uphill both ways.
