Black coffee appreciation

So many people these days pollute their brew with cream and sugar.

Stand up and be counted.

A younger relative of mine called me a debbie downer after i stated i prefer plain, black coffee.

I asked her if she puts cream and sugar in her soda.

Hurrah for a mug of black joe!

Sometimes I put a bit of milk or creamer in, but mostly just black.

I do love macchiatos.

I drink about 8-10 cups of coffee a day. If I put milk and sugar in it, I'd be 300lbs!

Seriously though, if you wanted milk and sugar, why'd you order a coffee?

I like coffee in my coffee, nothing else. Some places I go to get all confused when I order coffee sand don't want cream and sugar.

I've never had a cappuccino, frappuccino, ole', foam, froth or any of the other fancy coffees that are harder to spell than drink.

I remember cold, black, dorm coffee studying for finals back in the day. I'll have a sugary one if I've got a Starbucks gift card (which I now do), but I've never liked adding stuff to coffee or tea.

If I want the taste of cake or a donut, I'll have that. But please don't ruin the perfection of my bean by masking the flavor with cream or sugar.

The flat white was invented in Wellington NZ. Made by steaming whole milk until hot but not boiling and adding to the espresso shot. Yum.

I most often drink mine black, although sometimes when I'm making instant extra strong, I'll put in some whole milk. But if it's good coffee, I wouldn't dare spoil it with milk or sugar.

Now that I control the process from green beans to cup, when I am looking for a specific flavor profile, I will roast and brew accordingly.

Well placed sweeteners and/or cream can enhance the flavor profile of some coffees though.

I often joke that my fav coffee is that tar they serve at Denny's right around 3 a.m. I love black coffee and especially when it's dark. I tend to have a triple dark espresso added to my black coffee to fortify it's flavor.

The only way I usually drink it, same as tea.

Occasionally I'll make a Vietnamese coffee with sugar, but that's it.
