Black coffee appreciation

Coffee, black. Scotch, neat -- or maybe with a tiny splash of water. Tequila, straight, over a couple of ice cubes. Call me a purist, I guess.
My first experiences with coffee drinking was when I would finish Dad's coffee. He drank it black. When I got old enough to to have my own, I didn't know how much sugar or cream to use, so I left it black.
But like basses are tools to make music, it is just a tool to make coffee. I do music theory but not coffee theory so I don't care what it's called, but it is very very good, IMHO. Of course, YMMV.
I started out drinking sugar in coffee, but my first jobs out of college were selling radio advertising time. I soon realized that the best way to get a business owner's attention was to invite him/her out of the shop for coffee, which i did. I was drinking so much coffee at those meetings that I figured I'd end up weighing 300 pounds if I didn't change things. I stopped using sugar; it took a bit less than two weeks to adjust to the difference, after which I've been great with black coffee.
I'll add just enough sea salt to my grinds to lower the acidity.
Turkish coffee is good too when made well, especially with some cardamom.

If I have to drink Starbucks I need something in there to cover up the over-roasted, burnt beans.

the Italians who make those say 120 million espressos are made daily with them. True.
The Italian Esspresso National Institute says otherwise. The pressure in them is far too low, ~2atm vs. 9atm.

that mob only got going in 1998. They are a trade mafia trying to corner the market in steamed coffee beans. Espresso is as espresso does. Uniform fine bubbles be dammed!
It's not Esspresso, it's similar but noticeably different.

Fair enough. But it feels good to do that at any coffee shop, even the independent ones.
I have a 30bar machine but prefer the stove pot.

Yep! Once in a while I might throw a little splash of Baileys in there. Like today!
This is normally my evening coffee but I have been known to kick off the morning with it as well.
