Only if you're a vampire or other creature of the nightI didn't know blood had a smell.
You don't.So I just joined a fast, funky band and I just played a gig with them for the first time. It all went really well, except I cut the tip of my index finger on my left hand just before getting on stage and this was the result at the end of 2 sets. Looks kind of cool haha, but how do I clean the fretboard? It's sort of stained...don't worry about the strings they're old and replaceable.
Many years ago a buddy bass player friend of mine borrowed my bass ( 1977 4001 Ric ) for a gig.
He hadn't played for a long while and his fingers blood blistered and broke during the gig .
He returned the bass to me with blood all over the fret board , strings, pickups , everywhere - Didn't even clean the mess up.
I haven't spoken to him in over 30 years!!
That sounds like an entirely different situation to me...This story has inspired me greatly, I have the pleasure to bring you this - obviously - strictly bass-related Haiku :
Trust too much your friend
Now there is blood on your wood
Disgust and anger
Why would that result in disgust and anger? That sounds like an entirely different situation to me...

Finally, someone who agrees with me.I's spray a layer of clearcoat over it.
Yep. even better than cigarrette burns. ;PFinally, someone who agrees with me.
The blood should stay on the bass. It's the ultimate mojo.
