Here are a couple pictures of my Bluebond. I absolutely love this bass and wish very badly I could find another. As you can see, this one has had a lot of use (in fact, these pictures are several years old and it's a bit more worn now). The action is guitar-low, the tonal range is phenomenal, and it fits my hands perfectly. I like to use a lot of expression while playing and this thing will go from warm and sweet to viciously angry based (bassed?) on what your right hand is doing. Dale used Bartolini pickups and active electronics. My understanding is he made about 100 basses and under 5 guitars in his life (he died in a car accident in Philly). As a young and struggling bassist in the late 80s I lived around the corner from his shop and used to go over and hang out and drool wishing I could afford one. I finally picked this one up in the 90s.
I'm lucky enough to also own one of his guitars which I picked up in a small guitar shop later on. The shop owner had no idea what it was and I got it for a song. The guitar is great (similar look, neck through body, Tom Anderson pups), but I'd trade it for another of his basses in a heartbeat.
