I will definitely watch it at some stage, because he was a great singer and frontman. I love a bunch of Queen tunes - my favourite being "Innuendo" - A great Prog tune!
But as much as I thought it was cool when i saw the film was coming out, i just as quickly got pissed off about the worship of singers in our society. I really have had enough of singers.

I'll watch it when it hits Netflix as I do not pay to go to the movies anymore. But sure, I'll watch it.

Rami Malek gives me the creeps.

Almost every post said they are not going to see it in the theaters (many said they no longer go to theaters). That is the first line of revenue for movie makers. They aren't going to put in money if they can't make money. A primary source of revenue today is the overseas markets - that's why American films are made so that they are easily understood by foreign markets, and can be overdubbed easily. Result: less complex dialog, more big booms and easy plots.

Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. It is a little shortsighted though. If they had less boom and more dialog you might be able to make them for less than 100M and not charge as much as an NFL game

I guess that's why Netflix is proving to be far better.

But that's the exact point. They do this to make money. Theater attendance in this country has been going down for decades - even for blockbusters. They could make On the Waterfront meets Casablanca meets Starwars meets The Godfather, and most people STILL wouldn't pay to see it in theaters. They have no incentive to make better films, because most people are still going to wait to watch in streaming, where they make far less money.

At least 13 posts here said either they no longer watch films in theaters, or that they specifically would wait until this hit streaming.

And don’t forget American Cinema became a thing because no such thing as television. It stayed a thing because black & white television. 60 inch HD? Sure, I will stay at home and watch Netflix.
And if movie theaters go the way of the dodo it isn’t going to be the end of movies just movie going as a communal social event.

All that said I might break down and see the Queen movie. How often do we get a decent Rock and Roll movie?

Well, it would take time I think. There would have to be a run of likable movies before people start turning it around and going to see them again. Regarding money, there's making money and there's MAKING MONEY to the tune of enormous margins that may not be sustainable.

But I guess it's easier to make Thor: the Hammer of Spiderman's Avengers for the 90th time instead.

Yeah seriously. It cost me about 2.5K to put up a 55" HDTV and pretty killer sound system with easy access to beer and no commute. I never need to go to a theater again.

Though certain things are fun to go out and see, they're a pretty rare exception. This might be one of them.

Not easier. Just more profitable. Just like venue owners - their goal is not art, its profit.

I'll watch because my wife and I go to the movies a couple times a week (AMC Alist, if you don't know about it, 20 bucks a month and you can see 3 movies per week at their theaters) and I like Queen.

Now to the Sasha Baron Cohen thing...he is a deal breaker for a lot of movie goers here in the states for a multitude of reasons and just doesn't translate well to the box office here. I would never go see anything with him in it.

I think he's one of the best entertainers of this generation. Different strokes for different folks.
