Boss GT 1000Core

AAAAHH! Stupid me did download the update for the full version ((triple facepalm)).
Now I have the version for the Core and it did update my Core! Nice!
@Domespeed , what you need is the "GT1000Core_UPA_up.bin" file (12,3 MiB). Well at least that is the file I successfully updated my Core with. Found it here (scroll down to the bottom):

thanks, but mine is the "big" GT-1000. forgot to mention... (and I'm posting here because I don't find a dedicates thread on the GT-1000)
Strange, It's just not there. Unzipping the zip file just creates a temp file and GT1000CORE_UPA_up.bin is not there.
@FunkHead I'm on Mac and when I unzipped the file it produced _tmp folder with 5 bin files inside. I just copied those 5 files to the GT 1000Core drive, wrote them to the unit and all done.

To summarize how I did the Boss GT-1000 Core update (V2) with a Linux PC:
I downloaded the update from the Boss website and got the file gt1000core_sys_v200.zip .
I unpacked it and got the file GT1000CORE_UPA_up.bin .
I connected the Core (in update mode) to my Linux and the Core showed up as a drive (no items on the drive visible).
I copied the .bin file to the Core drive. Unmounted the Core drive and started the update procedure. Yes, new bass amps!
So, I did not need a Boss driver or a 'Windows'-trick for the update.
(Writing this down here because Google gave no answer to my Linux-question, maybe now it does, I will check)

Yeah I was confused as to whether you need the driver installed so good to learn that, cheers. But i am confused you got one file but I have 5... Is that dependant on the operating system i wonder.
Yes I am also confused about the differences between files. Maybe I have something missing, something like presets or...?

Just realized that my iPhone unzipped the right file while my mac gives me the folder with the other files.
So I guess it’s an issue of the on board mac unarchiver.

I got the update up and running. I'm impressed with the new bass amps.
Here they are. I've played around with them a bit this morning. The SOLID STK does sound closer to a GK than I was able to get before--and I think with some further tweaking with a compression block, should be almost spot-on. The CL BLUE sounds amazing (I've never played through a real Acoustic 360).

I'm impressed too. The Dark DRV is very crunchy, which I like. Different from the X Drive. The Fat Tube is just that, big and fat. Classic Blue has great mid range bite. Same with the Silver Tube. They all have excellent natural overdrive tones when you push the gain. Put a compressor on them and you get more sustain. They're all voiced differently and to my ears they're brand new sounds, which I couldn't have obtained with the first 3 amps. I have no idea if they actually sound like the real thing though. Need more time to test them out. Will make some sound samples. Need to get new strings. Nice one Boss!

There's a new tuner mode in Tone Studio and the GT 1000/Core
Wow...new to this group and the Boss GT1000 (not core). I actually like the natural amp quite a bit, but it is the only one I was using of the 3 bass amps. I was seriously considering selling because my Line 6 HX Stomp XL offers so much more for bass, but wanted to keep the GT1000 because that one natural bass amp does sound very um, natural. The additional 6 amps make the GT1000 a keeper! Very excitied to upgrade!

Welcome. Natural is a great clean amp. Most of my clean patches, that's my go-to. It has a very flat response which I like. I think Boss missed an opportunity not including the 6 new amps with the GTCore release or the V3 bass update with the GT 1000. Most of the amps have been available since Jan 2020 in the Boss SY 1000. Boss's priority is always going to be with the guitarists. But yeah, it's seems like we're an afterthought. But Boss are listening to the bass players. I think they were getting a few emails about including more bass amps. If they include some synth effects, then I think the GT 1000/Core will be be great value for money.
I happened to be awake shortly after they made the announcement, but I couldn't post because after the forum upgrade, my account was messed up, and I couldn't post. It tokk a couple of days to get that fixed.
Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed in this update. There's not much to it other than two new drive pedal models, three guitar amp models, and the six bass amp models, plus it looks like a new tuner mode? This shouldn't have been called a major version update.
That being said, I'm also honestly surprised they produced this update, at all. I had written the GT-1000 series off for upgrades. I'm expecting them to release a GT-2000 within a year. The Roland BMC platform is getting really long in the tooth, and Roland really needs to get a next generation SoC on the market to stay competitive.

I’m surprised that they offered an update too. I wish they would have improved some of the current effects like the autowahs and the octaves. A proper envelope generator would have been nice, too. I didn’t realize the bass models were already available elsewhere.
I should add that those bass amp models in the SY 1000 aren't the AIRD technology, as far as I know. It seems as though that Boss has their set number of effects and the parameters and that's it. But I hear what you're saying.
Here are some sound samples of the 9 AIRD Bass Amps. Bass is a 2016 Fender P Bass Pro, USB interface is a RME UCX II, which has an excellent DI. I've included the first 3 AIRD Bass Amps as a reference. To my ears, there seems to be some similarities between the amp models. The Natural, Solid Stack, and Fat Tube have modern neutral sounding clean tones. The X Drive and Dark Drive are overdrive amps. The Dark Drive is dark of course and the X Drive is brighter. The Concert and Studio Bass have a vintage vibe. And the Silver Tube and Classic Blue have a greater mid range response.

After upgrading to the new firmware I have a nasty USB ground loop (nothing else has changed in my home setup) when connecting the Core to my Mac running the BTS and a 1/4" output to my small desk mixer into headphones. After unplugging the USB cable, the ground loop noise is gone.
Anyone else having a similar issue?
