I was pretty excited to share patches etc but tbh every one of them I've tried has been rubbish. I'm sure they work great for the creator but they just don't work with my setup at all.

There's loads to learn from how they've set them up though, I've found inspecting people's guitar patches particularly interesting.

Out of curiosity which preamp are people using out of the 3 bass ones most? I've found the Concert one is a bit of a battle, I thing the natural is the one I find more useful.

I had an entire Source Audio board set up with midi, and I found

I use the "Transparent" pre I believe it's called, with the original cab sim. I'm going to purchase an Upright Bass cab sim to try, as I play fretless only, and want to see how that works.

How do the acoustic simulators do with your fretless? Do they help get you closer to the upright sound?
I have not tried them. My Ibanez SRF700 is loaded with piezo's, and gets a really organic tone on it's own. The IR gives me the big woody body sound, and enough reverb to make it credible. I'll through the acoustic sim on when I get a chance, and see what the results are. The IR was only $10 and super easy to load on the CORE and it was a bit of an (pardon the pun) impulse buy, and I'm really glad I tried it.

To set the unit for L/R Inputs, put the Divider block at the beginning and set Routing to Selector. Left goes to Main Output, Right goes to Sub Output. For more info see the Divider 1-3 section in the Parameter Guide.

Or you could mix the Left and Right together to Main Output.

Pretty handy if you're switching between two basses. Especially if you’re wireless.

Can you also do L-input>L-out and R-input>R-out if a DIVIDER is at the beginning of the chain ? I only checked this visually (no audio..) on the screen of my unit (I don't have the PC-editor).

So I'm in a bit of a dilemma.

I love the gt1000 core but tbh the preamps doesn't live up to my GK Fusion S no matter how much I think I've nailed it.

I've been thinking of ditching my GK head and getting a power amp (gss baby sumo 600w) but I'm not convinced the AIRD preamps are good enough.

Tempted to get a separate preamp pedal, the new Walrus Audio one looks great, but that's getting pricy!

So my options are:

  1. Stick with the GK Fusion and have the GT1K core in front of it/4cm to retain all the options I have currently.
  2. Get rid of the GK and replace with a lightweight power amp like the baby sumo or quilter BB. Then potentially add a preamp pedal down the road if I'm not totally sold at which point this is no longer remotelycost effective
Interested to hear how others incorporate it in to their setup or even have replaced their entire setups.

I dont have much to add since my 1000Core isnt even here yet (should be delivered today), but I anticipate running the core through the loop of my Shift Line Olympic to use their DI and IRs. Hopefully that does what I want it to do. I'm a huge fan of preamps to get you the tone you want, so whatever gets you there is my vote.

I love the GK, the sound is great and it looks cool af but when I practiced and gigged with it I really struggled keeping the low end at bay. With 4cm I can easily slap a little eq after the GK preamp before routing back to the head. It's a pain to have all those wires to deal with though at a gig (I'd imagine).

Maybe I'll just keep it and keep an eye out for a cheap baby sumo 2nd hand. Guess there's nothing stopping me getting another preamp on send 2 if I did pickup another.

As it stands, I'm not playing in a band and until I am maybe I should try and avoid justifying more purchases...
