Don't start buying pedals! I went gt1k then went back to pedals just to now be happier with the gx100. I'm at a point where I'm only going to keep the "boutique" limited edition type pedals

I don't want to go too crazy on pedals. I think it'd be nice to have an extra preamp and potentially a separate compressor like the Cali or Becos CompIQ but I think that'd cover off most usecases.

I'm constantly drawn to the DG alpha omega ultra pedal, still can't get the distortions dialed in on the GT1k to how I think they should be. It has such a great sound without sounding overly Darkglass.

Im so new to pedals, I've always just had my amp + mxr compressor, Aphex 204 and a distortion or fuzz. Getting the GT1K has only made we want more

I'd love to just spend a day playing with pedals to work out what I actually want before dropping loads of money on them. Annoyingly my local music shops have a pretty poor collection.
I went from no pedals a few years ago to having gone through a ton of them. With the board I settled on, I realized that half were digital, so why not get a single box that could do the job of those digital pedals. So the 1000core replaces my chorus/ phaser pedal, reverb, and delay pedals. I have a hard time getting rid of my analog drives because digital doesn't do a great job with those ( I had the aftershock and didn't like it), so those are staying. However, I've gotten a pretty convincing clone sound of my price of tone with the core. The preamps will stay for now because I can't anything to sound like the Kingsley, and the Olympic has too much other utility with it's aux, headphones, di, and ir loader. The origin bassrig may sound a little better than the Olympic, but is severely lacking with it's extra features.

I was curious about the GK Flex, always been more of a GK fan over other heads but then many of my favourite tones have come out of Mesa heads/preamps etc so... The Flex woube a hell of a lot more convenient to 4cm than my head at least.

I think my take on the drives so far is that they're not quite there but if set up right they'd probably do the job for live shows etc but fall a little flat when scrutinised.

Nice set up! How are you finding the GT1k compressors stack up against the fea and Cali?

The Core's compressors are pretty decent, but I end up liking certain compressors at the start of the chain more, in this case I really, really like the combo of LA-1A into the Becos Twain and then disabling any input compressors on the Core. I'm really liking the distinct modern/vintage input tones I can get from different combinations possible between the two.

As far as a comp at the end of the chain, I found that the Core's Mastering FX blocks get me a better sound than any of my compressor pedals I've tried at the end of the chain. I'll likely sell all my other compressors.

Yah, I don't love the compressor blocks on the core. I havnt tried the mastering at the end, but I'll have to check that out.

Yeah I don't really have any experience of the higher end compressor pedals. My MXR m87 did a decent job of light compression without colouring the sound but honestly I think it made me realise I wanted something with more flavour. The X-bass compressor feels a little similar in that it either virtually unnoticeable or completely crushing the tone, that could just be my lack of understanding though!

I've been pretty impressed by the mastering FX, really need to play around with switching types for clean/dirty channels though. I like the limiters on cleanish tones but the metal one really works better for my distorted tones.

If you select the comp block on the unit, you can see a little gain reduction meter in the upper right corner. I'm assuming one dot is 1 dB of GR, no mention of it in the manual. Anyone know?

I feel the x-bass comp works better with a low ratio, around 3:1 or so. Increasing the attack time will help if it feels like the comp is grabbing the signal too hard, but ultimately the correct setting depends on the desired attack character.
