Here's a demo from a project I've been working on. Guess I'd describe it as Shoegaze, Alt, Prog Rock. Who knows. The song doesn't move or groove around much. It's more about layers, texture, and feel. All guitar and bass is GTCore. There's 5 bass patches and 10 guitars patches. Bass has up to 4 layers in one part, same with guitar.

Nice!!:bassist:

I also listened to the bass samples on the other Soundcloud tracks, I think they are inspiring! (I need to spent some time with the 'concert amp'...) Cannot remember seeing links to these samples.

It makes the settings/changes of the 'stompbox'-preset global.

Edit: needs to be saved/written before powering down, otherwise the last saved settings are recalled when powering up (if I remember correctly). Or not if you want it that way of course..Pff not really clear haha, must go write manuals for Boss..

Gonna give that a go with some patches, that'd be cool if that was how it works.

So you could have 3 patches each with the DS1 set to the same Stompbox, if you turn DS1 on in one patch it'll still be on in the other 2?

Random cool tidbit I just stumbled across:

I accidentally enabled the Pedal FX block and the default setting (Bass Wah in my case) added a cool "tic-tac" style higher freq click to the tone that sounds really cool with flatwounds.

Happy accidents, since I do not have an expression pedal attached and would have otherwise ignored this. :D

I added some Direct Mix to mitigate the slight volume drop

You could probably change the frequency of the click as well by changing the max pedal setting.

As a side usage for the core, Im using it as an eq and limiter compressor into ampeg 210 cabs for home movies. Sounds great, easy to use. And, I now have this eq setting saved so I can set up and take down the projector set up whenever I want without impact on the usable eq settings.

Thanks. I posted those sounds bites quite a few pages pages back. I had been struggling to get a decent sound out of the Concert Amp. But since I started using the Mastering FX, it’s been useful as an enhancer for the Concert Amp and sounds a lot more responsive.

Aah, :poop::poop:! Now I remember! The on/off status of the effect block is NOT transferred to the other patches...Only the sound parameters are transferred. If you switch a 'stompbox' to off in a patch and you switch patches and return to the patch with the 'stombbox' that was switched off it is set to on if that's how you saved that patch. So, no it will not work.

This is exactly why this 'stombox' feature was useless for the application I had in mind for it (insert triple facepalm..)!

How often do you tweak a patch for like 15 minutes and than forget to save it before A/B-ing it with another patch? Aaaaargh, tweaks gone :rage:. My Zoom MS60b has a auto-save feature/option I have always on. I wish the Core had this also.(edit: actually, for this aspect the 'stompbox' feature IS usefull)

Especially on stage where you might tweak something I really dislike the behaviour of this aspect with digital/preset devices. Everytime you make a tweak you need to press write 3 times or the tweak is gone :rage:!

Actually this is one of the reasons I bought the Core: there are so many fx-blocks I can create three sounds (all my sounds...) in one patch so I do not need more than one patch and there is no pattern switching necessary.

(I needed plenty emoji's in this post to express frustration and prevent being censored haha)

Ok, also a positive post: thursday I had a second gig using the X-BASS distortion and I still REALLY like it! It has a really nice grunt while being nicely separated from the guitar sound. It is perfect for the sludge/doom band I play. Still very happy with the Core the way I set it up.

I use comp1>X-BASS>EQ>comp2. I need/like plenty of compression for sustain, using 2 compressors prevent the loss of too much dynamics. I got this 'trick' from this forum, there are a few threads where this is discussed.

Nice! I wish I had more use for some filthy tones but I’m only doing light rock or folky stuff really. I’ve been binging a lot on Osees and Shellac recently though so been itching to write something nice and abrasive.

The X stuff is really freaking cool. The CEO said they put a ton of time and effort into making them responsive and dynamic to the players touch. I didn't believe it when I first had the CORE but after a year or so I switched to the x comp and started realizing the magic it had.

Ah, yes forgot to mention the type of compressor I use: I use the X-BASS comp.

Stupid me took a year to try out the built-in distortions... I was really focussed on the magic of my HM-2 which I really like but is kind of hard to mix with loud RAT>Orange guitar tones (even with clean-blend and EQ-ing pre and post). Also lots of prejudice against digital distortion withhold me from trying stuff out.

Still I am a romantic and like analog stuff more, for sake of reliability-peace-of-mind I keep two stompboxes on my board: a SansAmpParaDriver pre-amp and a 6 band EQ. Also I like this to have some immidiate control over tone shaping in case of difficult rooms/amps.

I also have those same thoughts about digital dirt pedals. I've been messing with the x bass drive and comparing it to my beloved pork and pickle and the x bass giving the p&p a run for it's money.

My favorite is the Guv. There's a lot of magic to be found with it. My next most used is the Rat

I was thinking a lot about the SA Atlas compressor, having two channels would be so useful. Was thinking of popping the first channel before the GT input and 2nd in an FX loop or just put it on the line out.
I use so many subtle compression blocks atm. I’ve got a light input compression, one on each of the high and low chains after the preamps and then one on the out/mastering fx after cab. It leaves me with no extra fx blocks for effects or for adding any extra compression for a dirty channel. I could probably ditch the first input one tbf.

Just wish we could ditch some of the delays/reverb. Bass mode should convert them all to fx/compressor blocks.
