Couple of other things to look at. Does the unit show up in the Audio MIDI Setup app, can you connect to the unit with the GT 1000 IR Loader, can you connect to the unit with a DAW? Do you have access to another Mac?

Boss GT 1000Core

Thanks for your help. The unit doesn’t show up in the in/out in sound (system preferences of the Mac). I did update the GT1000 Core yesterday and that worked. The Core icon showed up in the drive. So I guess that means my micro usb cable is a data transfer cable? Otherwise I couldn’t run the update I guess. Not sure about the IR loader, haven’t done anything with it and I don’t know how that works. My other Mac runs a too old OS X that is not compatible with the Core. Maybe I can try with my brother.
Well, its a work around and does the job. Not sure though I would use this set up for recordings. Tracking is good though.
As corelli wrote, there is a slight chorus going on. You might tame it by post processing using eq eliminating the frequency.
Also I checked corellis uploaded patches regarding pitch shifting -2. I cannot make out any diff in sound wether you use pitch shift block or use the pfx for pitch shifting. So eventually it narrows down to your prefs. I used the expression pedal and assigned the eq to the very same action as this is always down on the floor. The core itself is mainly on the combo and pushing ctrl 1 knob would not be handy.
Finally got it to work after many tries. I bought a new micro USB cable but that didn't work either. Reinstalled the driver a few times, also didn't work. The final time there showed up a warning in the system preferences that wasn't there before, it said that Roland things were blocked. Clicked on it and then it suddenly saw the GT1000Core! It's a bit strange that you have to install a driver on a Mac. This is the first app ever that I had to do that with in all my years owning Macs. Normally you only need to install separate driver on a Window computer.
I have another question: how do you use the Tone Central and load in the Artist patches?
Yeah, the Tone Studio has its problems. Been there myself. You’ll find it’s slow when writing the patch to a user preset. Some things I do like patch design, I’ll use Tone Studio. But if I need to do quicker adjustments, I’ll do it in the unit.
Those artist Livesets are downloaded from Boss Tone Exchange or Boss Tone Central, then import the file into Tone Studio. It’s all in the manual.
But once you’ve had a look at a few artist and boss patches, the next best thing to do IMO, is clear and initialise the user preset. This puts all settings in all the blocks into their default positions. Then it’s a matter of working out your effects order, then start tweaking the settings from there.

there are not many bass patches at the moment....
GT-1000 & GT-1000 Core are functionally equivalent, so patches from one will work on the other.

Boss Tone Studio functions really nice!
It would be nice if you could delete blocks, so the grit looks less crowded. You can do that on the Axe fx.

I tend to put anything I know I won’t want (mostly delay blocks) right at the end of the chain so they’re out of the way. Still have to scroll pasted them to get to master controls but neater for general editing.
I have a bit of a strange 'problem'. I have a boss FS-6 dual footswitch. I got it to work with the Core (had to set TOGGLE to MOMENTARY in the Core, which is also strange because it is toggle function that I want, but it works) but it sees my A switch of the FS-6 as CTRL3 and the B switch as CTRL2 which is counter-intuitive. Is there a way to change this in the Core?

Look for a work-around. I think if you can get a work-around on a problem, it shows the gadget is designed well. The problem solving is the interesting stuff.

Tried a new trick on my IE patch. I'm running the XComp Bass on a side chain with a HPF in front of it set to 40hz (I think) with direct mix set to 0.The B side is set with no filters. Basically the same as a clean blend, but is allows the Comp to trigger better without the lows hitting it as hard. Sounds really nice.
Is it possible to get a 8000ms delay by connecting DLY1-4 by setting each to 2000ms, and using the send/return block? I can do that in the Axe fx but I think the send/return in the GT can only be used for hardware pedals? I tried but couldn't figure it out. I know the SD3000 delay algo can do 4000ms but for some soundscapes I need longer delays. Is there some trick to make that possible?

The board is 3 pedal train nano plus clamped together using a few ciocks clamps. I'll get around to ordering a board eventually. Last thing I want room for is my Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah so I'll probably go for a 24" wide 12-14" deep board.
Looks like an awesome setup. How’d you find the harmonic booster? That and the Hyper Luminal are on my long list of wants.
Well yeah except that you would have to re-do the assignments, etc....so it does require a little bit of work.
