New GT-1000Core user here...Haven't gotten too deeply into it yet but ran into a problem...

I installed BTS and the "latest" MacOS driver "GT_1000 Driver Ver.1.0.2 for MacOS 11/12" (BOSS - Support - GT-1000CORE - Updates & Drivers) on my MacOS Ventura machine. BTS (and the computer as a whole) does not see the Core...at all. Rebooted, changes cables/ports, tried various start-up sequences...all the usual connection troubleshooting things and still no go.

After a bit of googling, it appears that a full year after its release, Ventura is STILL not supported ([This invalid link has been removed] - "Under testing").

Has anyone had any luck using BTS and GT-1000Core on MacOS Ventura?

I got a Mac Studio M2 Ventura about a month ago with BTS and GT 1000 Driver Ver.1.0.2 for macOS 11/12 installed and working perfectly.

Do you have the lastest GT 1000 System Program Ver.1.10 installed? I installed everything as Administrator then switched to my normal user account. Not sure if that makes any difference or not. I have the unit connected to the Mac Studio using one of the USB-A ports. Also, it's worth getting the unit registered with Roland Backstage, then you can get tech support. They're pretty helpful and reply in about 1-2 days.

Corelli - Thanks for the reply. I am running an M2 Max Studio as well.

Latest system program? I think so, on boot the display shows v1.10 0043

Install driver as Administrator: I did not do that initially so...uninstalled the driver I installed as my normal user. Reinstalled both BTS and the Driver as an Administrator. Unfortunately that made no difference. BTS fails to find the device whether run as admin account or normal user account.

I have registered the unit with Boss and submitted a support request.

Have you ruled out the cables you’re using to connect?

Bingo! As a software engineer for the past 30 years working on most every system and OS around, you would think that I would have considered that as a possibility! The first alternative cable I tried and everything worked perfectly.

Thanks krfoss.
Glad it worked. I’ve fallen victim to the faulty cable a time or two as well. Now stop agonizing and go make some noise!

Yeah...always a bit of a gamble, especially with 3rd party Logic plugins and extensions. I suppose the Sonoma upgrade will make sense next fall after the new OS is released. Always seems prudent to be 1 release behind when dealing with Audio.

edit: just double checked and both Isotope and Arturia warn against upgrading to Sonoma. The wait continues.

More BOSS news. New pedal called the IR-2. This one's for guitar but if they make a bass version, they couldn't take my money fast enough. This is also a USB interface. This could be the reason for no updates for the GT/Core. Buy more pedals...

Absolutely LOVE the Correlli presets posted on Tone Exchange. Digging into their construction and not only learning a lot, but getting some validation on ideas I had for how to arrange things, and how to move unused/unwanted blocks out of the main signal chain. Not sure whether blocks turned off have any detrimental effects, but is sure is nice not to have to look at them.

I have a nice "analog" pedalboard: Polytune > Tech21 YYZ > Spectracomp > GEB-7 > BF-2 (vintage) > CE-5 (vintage). I think I am keeping that for my "normal" band gigs that require a pretty traditional bass sound as it is well sorted and reliable.

But the GT1000Core is a game changer for my electronic project. The Bass is now 3-4 different instruments. A lot of the stock "guitar" patches are amazing on Bass. Opens a new world of what can be accomplished.

Thanks. I need to update that Live Set. I’ve learnt some more stuff around gain staging and setting levels that is important when going into FOH or a USB interface. Also what I do now when writing a patch, is use a peak level meter to help get my gain staging right. You can also use the level meter in the DAW, but the one I downloaded has large meter segments so it’s easier to read. All my patches are set between -6 and -10db.

This is how i have the two apps setup on my computer. The meter is called DigiCheck which came with my USB interface, but there are many others. I get the right gain staging, also all my patches are at the same level. I'm not perceiving anything to be louder or quieter than what it actually is.

Manual mode screen is sometimes not displaying the correct icon for the block assigned to the foot switch. Example: I have switch 1 turning the DS1 block on/off (it does this correctly) but the screen icon for that switch shows the Amp1 icon. Do we have any control over the icon displayed?

This isn't really a usability issue, however my retentive nature would like the icon to match the effect block :)
