I've not got 'round to cleaning my XLRs either.... Since both outputs have been exposed to the same environment, I don't think it's a huge stretch that they'd develop issues at the same time. I'm going RIGHT NOW to look for my contact cleaner.

Okay, clearly my years as a drummer have addled what's left of my brain. I've got no idea how to do this, if at all it's even possible!
I want to have an octave down, clean, and using the pitch shifter, have an octave up with drive. It's like the POG, but with drive only on the up.
Is this possible, and if so....how???? I thought I was a complete gear head until I made the move to a MutlFX....damn, I feel daft as a brush now.

Yes it is possible, there are a few different ways to achieve it.
Using the split channels A/B.
in channel A place FX1-pitchshifter set to +12 pitch (octave up) and ODDS distortion after that.
In channel B place FX2 - Octave effect. (octave down)
Set channel control as required A or B or A+B using the CTL pedal function or Assigns.

@gumtown... OK, call me a daft pillock for not being able to figure this one out, but I can't figure out how the channels work. I program Channel A to have (for example) nothing but FX1 with a simple drive on it and Channel B to have nothing but FX2 with say an octave on it. Yet when I save it, it's all on for Channel A and nothing on Channel B, yet the lights are actually on????
Is there not a simple (read that as drummer) guide to what the channels do??? I am so desperate to use more than the 0.000001% of this unit that I am currently using

The GT is a complex unit and, as I recall, the manual is pretty useless so don't feel bad.
Are you using Gumtown's floorboard software (highly recommended) or trying to program on the unit itself? And, when you use the term "saving", are you writing the patch to the hardware or saving it as a file on your computer?

So far I've not yet been able to get the software to recognise the board - even though Windows does. Just super busy so not nearly enough attention being paid to the laptop when I get home....
Oh, and "saving" is "writing" and thus far only on the board itself... I want the SW to work so I can have backups etc. for sure!
yeah, the manual is vast, and for the most part quite easy to understand, but this particular section seems to vague at best, which is so frustrating. after reading all eleven bazillion posts here on TB, it is my understanding that I can do the follow...
a) mix the 2 channels for true blending of effects
b) switch between 2 settings in the same patch
c) switch between 2 signal paths in the same patch - so e.g. comp > OD > synth on A and comp > flanger > EQ on the B
Or have I got it all wrong???? Man, this this is a beast! For me, being able to blend effects would be amazing. The drives are nicer than (I think) most people give them credit for, but I really want to be able to tone sculpt the drive and blend it with a clean signal - which I can't do... also, if you read above in my chat with the Gummeister, I need to be able to have a clean octave down blended with an unaffected signal mixed with the octave up (pitch shifter) which is blended with screaming (and tone sculpted) drive - to create a synth organ vibe...
sigh - I really do feel like a drummer after getting this thing hahahahaha

I had a quick look for tutorials on the dual channel thing but didn't really find anything, unfortunately.
In order to accomplish objectives b and c, you need to figure out how to use "assigns" and the manual is not very good on that subject either. There were some decent Youtube vids on that subject but I haven't looked much lately. At one point, there was a GT forum that had some helpful stuff but I don't know if it still exists.
Try this tutorial on assigns :
Note: As far as most features go, anything you can find about the GT10 will also apply to the 10B.

On the GT-10B itself, find the SYSTEM setting for MIDI 'Driver MODE' and set it to "Advanced".
this will allow editor communication to the GT-10B
Connect the GT-10B to computer with a USB cable
Run the editor software, and from the editor "Preferences > MIDI/USB" menu select "Boss GT10B" as the midi input and output device.
Press [O.K ]
on the editor main page press the "Connect" button, if all is well it should stay lit green.

I don't own a GT-10B, but they've always intrigued me (and they're discontinued, right?). I know the software editor gives you more options and updates, but isn't there tons of stuff you can do without it?
You don't need the software editor at all but it's a lot easier to work with than the hardware interface. (I don't think it actually gives you any more options.)
Also, I noticed that I never up-dated my experience with trying to clean my XLR outputs. I gave them a good working over with contact cleaner but, sadly, no improvement.

Interesting thing happened...
DON'T USE USB3!!!!
I had used it, and I got the Midi out on the SW to read "BOSS GT-10B", but the Midi in is "no midi device available".
The USB settings on the GT are set to advanced (followed by a reset).... so, not I'm think "what am I doing wrong here???"
I plugged into a standard USB (2?) port, restarted the program and the unit (just to be safe) and I am up and running!!!

Right, so I've played and played and played, and so far I have to admit that this unit has surpassed my expectations. There is a LOT of tweaking in the process, and for the most part, that process is far from complete. I've got a great base tone from which to launch my patches - ranging from slap, solo, octave and other effects to my attempt at a half decent Jon Lord Hammond.
But this is my quandary... has anyone else encountered the unit's pre stage seriously driving the output? By that I mean that I seem, with IEMs, to have a horribly dirty output - lots of drive (which I absolutely detest). I have to drop the output level substantially, but then the sound guy says my level is chronically low.
My question, in a very rough sense, is, am I clipping the input stage and I don't know it? I'm not hearing it at home through my Ashdown Perfect 10, or at the studio through a Mark Bass 800. My patch levels are all exactly on or around 12 o'clock (100). What is the recommended patch level? Is there even one?
