Boss GT-10B (part 2)

THanks for the respose. I will reread the manual but as I recall, the effects send was post eq and post compression, which to me means post pre. There is a schematic in the manual so I will take a look.

In the end, it soulds like I just need to test all three options and see which sounds best.

My GT-10B arrived just yesterday, and after I got home from work dived right in. I LOVE THIS THING! This thing is a time warp machine- hours go by when I'm fiddling around with it. I've found that a lot of it is pretty obvious and self explanatory, but then again I've only began to scratch the surface of what this thing can really do. My first gear purchase of this year- loving it so far! Woo-hoo! :D :bassist:

I am revisiting how I'm going to have this pedal setup. Right now it's sort of a DI, compressor, with a few patches setup for different levels of compression, some chorus, and reverb.

I'd like to get some cool synth sounds out of it but they all seem kinda sketchy and weak. Is it most likely a setting from the defaults that I'll need to tweak? I'm going to have to explore this pedal again to see what kind of sounds I can apply in a band context.

The synth part of the program is tough to dial in. I haven't really messed with getting a good synth sound because I have an EHX BMS in the effects loop.

If I get a chance next week, I'll try to get something good dialed in and post some settings.

Right now I use the GT-10b for some overdrive, reverb, and delay. I haven't had a chance to get more out of it that I would use in a live setting.

Hey I know this is from awhile ago, but I made a pretty usable synth (to my ears). I'm not sure what sounds you guys hear when you hear "synth" but this was my interpretation.

In my experience (and to my ears) the signal going into the unit is the same as the signal going out with everything turned off.

I know there were a couple guys that didn't feel this way in the thousand previous posts, but they seemed to be the exception to the rule.

If you switch everything off, the output is the same as imput.

Question for everyone: In the System menu, under "Input/Output" there is an "Input Select" option that allows you to store separate tone configurations for different basses. Is there a way to assign this to a pedal so I can switch more easily between different basses on the fly?

Unfortunatley it is not assignable, so if you want pedal controlled levels and tone, then make separate patches for each bass.

could not find info on this in the previous posts:

For anyone that's used both the GT6B and the GT10B, how would you compare the pitch shift (octave up) and the octaver between the two?

I have a GT6B sitting in a closet, did not like the pitch shifter or the octaver. Wondering if they have improved massively in the GT10B. I love all-in-one / programmable fx boards but moved to individual pedals to get better sounds. Having a dual signal path in the 10B is great, but only if the sounds are good enough...

By way of comparison, I have an original VBass and loved the octave up / down sounds on that. Just too much hassle with the pickup and control pod... Line 6 M5 has really good versions of these two effects, but no clean blend...

The GT-10B is a massive improvement over the GT-6B in all area's except (IMO) the bass synth effect options are less but as a trade off for better tracking (and you also get two of them in the GT-10B).
You pretty much get two of all the FX, FX1 and FX2 have all the same effects.
I find the Pedal-Bend effect works better at pitch shift than the pitch shifter effect(across the whole GT range).
I have since moved on from the GT-10B to a Roland GR-55 and GT-100.
