Boss GT-10B (part 2)

I think I do... Also switched the delay and flanger to channel a, and dry bass on channel b. But then still only hear the delay/flanger. Not the dry bass.... Can't understand it.....
Yes you can use either CTL1 or CTL2.
Another trick is to use an assign (one for each patch) to have Auto Manual mode.
Set the assign so input level controls manual mode,
initially you have patch mode,
then when you start playing and input level is detected, it switches to Manual mode.
When you stop playing it switches back to patch mode.

I have a GT10B for some time now, and really like the thing..Having a problem or 2 with 'assigns' but what I reall y need to know is how to make the CTL1 or 2 with a 'universal ' setting..
I have a specific OD i like and would like to apply the SAME one to all patches when kicked in..likewise a 'preamp' setting for CTL2.
There must be somewhere to set that, but can't seem to find it. I don't want the default settings that come up..nor want to write it for each patch..

In the SYSTEM/Global setting for "internal pedals" you can set the CTL 1 and CTL 2 to do defined switching functions.
For the preamp, you would set CTL 2 to preamp on/off,
and for distortion, you would set CTL1 to OD/DS on/off.
You still have to setup each patch effect, but if you use the GT-10BFxFloorBoard editor, it can write the effect or pedal setting or assign to a range of user patches, by using the "Bulk Write" function located in each edit page.
So for a distortion type you like in a patch, hit the "Bulk Write" in the distortion edit page and choose the range of user patches you want the same effect written to.
Same with any other effect.

Just got a GT10B locally off CL. Definitely a nice unit! Played 3 gigs with it so far and still dialing patches in, but pretty happy with it overall. I know it defeats the purpose of having to carry only one pedal, but,....I tried running my Markbass Compressore after the GT10 tonight and WOOF!!!! It REALLLLLLLLY started to sound great! I like the comps in the GT, but the Markbass is my fav comp pedal. It brought some really nice coloration to the mids and patches that sounded pretty good suddenly sounded great! Love the GT10, but def gonna add the Markbass to it. My rig is a GK MB800 fusion and NEO 212 cab btw. It sounds huge with the two of them in front of it now.
Agreed..i run my Joe Meek compressor after the GT10B also..all the compressors on it are total tone suckers. I do use the sub bass on a couple of patches for some little extra fat for some tunes..
Do you guys run active basses? My active 5er would fight the compressor unless I dialled it way back, but my current passive doesn't have any such issue. I also find it makes a big difference where the compressor is in the gt10b chain itself.

Two quick questions: Would it be ok to run the GT10B off my one spot? and number 2, would you place an external overdrive before or after the GT10B?

Not sure about the 1 Spot. I would place the external pedals in the effects send/return of the GT-10b so that I could move them anywhere in the signal chain inside of the GT-10b. Also you must go in system setting and turn the send/return on and adjust its levels I believe.
Thanks for the reply mate. I plugged it in before and it powered up fine, I just don't know what the long term effect will be
I've never used a 1 spot but it would be worth a try I guess. If you can't put the overdrive pedal in the loop, I'd put it before the GT so it's sound would make it to the XLR out on the GT
I am going to try the effects loop tomorrow, I haven't been down to my bass room in about 6 weeks (ruptured achilles). Send>input>output>return?
