Boss GT-1B discussion thread

@Meaculpa was just about to say the same. @nonohmic if you use your computer for tone studio you can add the NS2 into the chain and make adjustments.
Also, you're using single coils which are generally very noisy along with drive, which is also noisy. You can also add EQ into your chain through tone studio and cut down the noisy freqs.

ok, I haven't had a lot of time to deep dive, but I've logged at east 10 or so hours of playing. I almost returned it... I sounds absolutely terrible through the front of the amp. This bothers me as I wanted it to be part of my pedal board and there are certain effects I wanted to use in a specific spot in my chain. HOWEVER, in the effects loop it sounds as it should, which is amazing. It's safe for now, I will end up dedicating a day to the deep dive before my return window closes. For now I'd say it has about a 60% chance of staying in the board.

I had a bit of trouble with the Output settings. Didn't have the right one selected. There's two bass amp Output settings.

On the Unit: Menu > In/Out Settings > Output > Output Select...

I was just thinking about having a type of two channel setup.

Sub Output to the effects return on the amp, set the Global EQ as required, set AIRD Sub Output Select to Line/Phone, use the AIRD bass amps, write a preset as U001

Main Output to the front of the amp, set Global EQ with a Low Cut, set AIRD Main Output Select to Bass Amp/Tweeter, disable AIRD bass amps, write a preset as U002.

Oops forgot to mention this is the gt1000core. I have playedwith those settings. mess with gainand output patch vol. In my pedal chain or in front alone just sounds muddy and boomy

Factory presets all have some kind of amp/cab simulator and/or have effects over the top. That may be demonstration of abilities, but is unusable in real world. For enyone using this unit as a pedalboard I would recomend to start with empty patch, add one effect at the time and try it as it would be used - in your case as a part of pedalboard.

Hello, does anyone know which guitar amps are emulated on the boss gt-1b? (The las ones that only say gtrClean, gtrCRNCH, etc...)
I really dont know but to me sounds like a clean fender a crunch marshall and the last one some sort of high gain amp...
They sounds really good if you ask me, couple of times ive used them they get the job done.
I guess with some ir loader you will get a pretty decent recording with it.

I always thought they were just generic rather than specific. They name the bass amps so there’s no reason they wouldn’t name the guitar amps if they were based on specific models.

In my experience the only models that are really true to prototype are in the multi-thousand dollar profiler rigs.

The amps built into most modelers are close, often close enough, but still require tweaking.

Following. I’ve had mine for over a year and haven’t been able to get what I wanted out of it yet.
I found some patches I really liked on the tone central website. The sounds are definitely in there but I found I’ve had to take other peoples patches and tweak them. On my own I’m not that good at creating them. There is so much in the GT-1B that I’ll keep it but to be honest, for everyday sound, I find I can get enough out of my Eden Terra Nova pedal. I like the simplicity of that. The Boss allows me to experiment and record as a DI plus loop etc. It is amazing value, but live, I’d just stick to the Eden.

So I gotta say... the core is definitely next level in comparison. If the price isn't an issue and you actually utilize tone studio then I can't recommend upgrading enough. I used my military discount and ordered it at the store which saved me 10% and got free expedited shipping to my house. It's just too loaded with features and all of the things we wish we could do without using the computer you can actually do on the core with ease. Ie moving the pedals around in the chain, splitting signals, EQs everywhere noise suppression anywhere you want it, amp and cab sims, etc etc etc. Almost like Boss listened to their customers?

That being said you still cannot beat the gt1b for value. For a gig having the battery back up is really nice. I have a rockboard power brick that should do the job if needed but batteries would be more convenient.

Apples or oranges comparison but for any GT1B lovers thinking about the core or even the full size board I say just do it!

I’m going to have to spend some time with it for sure.

just saw a youtube clip in which was stated that you cannot stack effects in the boss GT1B. I dont understand.
Maybe a stupid question : is it possible to combine the effects within ?
eg compressor + distorion + chorus + reverb + preamp ?
