Bought a used Little Mark II

Yeah, I mean I can tell it's a good amp, light years beyond my previous Yorkville or Peavy, I just happen to like my G-K better. I don't have to frig with my cab or my strings to get what I want out of it, with or without the VT Bass (which I happen to love) so maybe what I want is just not what the LMII gives.

Funny how people hear the same thing differently. I think the LMII is the most Ampeg-like sound I've heard out of any SS or hybrid head. Very clean, but very much alike. And we're both fans of the VT, too. But hey, that's how you roll...you'll get your money out of it, don't worry.

I hear you, bro. However, just to note that with my LMII + Epi UL115, p bass, string and pickup choice, I can say for certain, that I get no honk. Honk sucks!

Its nice to find something that is working for you, isnt it.

If you are anywhere near a Long & McQuade they carry the full range of MB and Epifani stuff. You might want to check it out, if you are so inclined.

The L&M out here is a recent acquisition by the company, a small regional chain called Musicstop. They're not currently stocking any Markbass or Epifani, but nice to know that they can at least order it in.

Yeah, it was largely based on your VT Bass threads that I made the decision to get the LMII.

I have it in the Classifieds now, but I'll play with it some more to see what else I can do with it, and make a final decision by the time someone offers to buy it.

Hmmm... I hate to say it... I'm reconsidering. I tried the LMII out again tonight, with the gain turned back to about 10:00, and it sounds much nicer. The instructions about cranking it and playing heavy, then backing off the gain until the clip light stops coming on is bogus.

I A->B'd again, and I'm starting to dig it. I have a gig this Friday night, I might try it out.

I tend to roll it back myself. I'm looking for clean, so I always use a bit less gain on the pre and push my power amp a bit harder.

When I use the VT Bass it tends to make my input hotter unless i roll off the gain a lot on the pedal- this is when I use it per the instructions some of the settings tend to over drive the pre on the LMII so I have to roll back the level on the VT.

Messing around I have gotten a good sound with it - but the LMII sounds so good without it too - so might get more use for recording - I dig it though.
