Anything with a thin coat of nitro will enevitably wear. F-Bass comes to mind as I have seen a few REALLY worn. Not beat up, just worn.

I have a purple nitro Warmoth jazz and I swear when I even mention how easily it gets dinged... it gets dinged. I don't even have to touch it.

My Lakland 4-94D (Shirley) is worn to hell... survived years of practicing in low-ceilinged basements, playing frat house parties, seedy bars, and even a 2 hr car fire (long shameful story but she and I both survived)

The top is a little seperated from the body, the hardwire is all oxidized, the pickups are kinda microphonic now... but goddang does she sound good and play even better.

I saw this thread was bumped, and i figure I should post some pics (maybe 5 months later ). My ex got the digital camera when we split, so here's some meh cell phone pics. But I think it gets the idea across pretty well:

This is Shirley, my only consistent love for the past 9 years.

Here you can see the oxidation on the bridge - the one shiny spot towards the top rear is one the non-oxidized part! The rest is grungy, but I kinda like it.

Here you can see where the top is separated. No, that's not a maple veneer accent line . The folks at Lakland cleaned it up and i think put some kind of finish on it to keep it from getting worse.

Look at that headstock! Shameful. Notice the same oxidation on the tuners as well. About a year ago I put a Hipshot D-Tuner on, and didn't replace the ferule because it would look waaaaaaaaaaay too bright next to the other ones.

And here you can see my 'roasted' neck. Ernie Ball owes me royalties I think...

So she's beat to hell, especially for a 'boutique' level instrument. But I love this bass so much because of a) the feel b) the sound and c) all we've been through together. I could never ever sell her. Thanks for looking!

Got two recent pics of my road worn Sadowsky. Here's a closeup of the back:

I removed the nitro from the back of the neck with 320 grit sandpaper. It's getting nice and grungy (hard to capture on camera thouhg):

Here's the front. Not as messy as the back, but there's a nice thumb divot in the pickguard above the pickup (barely visible here). I guess I don't float my thumb as much as I think I do.
