No, it's a clear indication that I don't like the design.
I made no reference to it's so-called "build" quality, nor to any "builder". But it's damn ugly looking - frightening, actually

I can understand criticising the shape. But buckeye burl is not such an uncommon wood, especially since we're talking boutique/custom.
And yes it's definitely a diseased wood, it gets that look due to some fungus, it's actually "rotting" wood that's been treated to be "frozen" there.
