Break-In Bass with Music/Sine Wave?

Theres probably a small amount of truth when applying it to acoustic guitars. Not so much for solid body imo. Id be more inclined to believe claims of little better tone after pups and electronics have been used for several hours due to electrical break in of electronic componants.

This is like Sabian a couple of years ago (or was it this year?) They buried 100 cymbals because they heard somone say it helps them "age". Not sure if that worked, but they sold them all at "special" prices, last heard. :ninja:

Any seller looking for a competetive edge? Here are a few tips.

Centuries ago, wood workers used to bury some of their wood in manure - apparently it did marvels to age the wood and make it more beautiful.

Cabinetmakers used to pee in the trough that the sharpening stone ran in, mostly becuase it was the only handy place in the shop to go. But they would then use the "water" from the same trough to condition the wood before finishing it. Helped the wood to colour beautifully.

So there may be some merit in urinating or defecating on your bass - it seems to be good for the wood, and you can charge a premium for a specially treated instrument.

Ever hear of toasted necks?

MTD swears by this.

Unfortunately I've never seen any real evidence that it does anything with a solidbody. People's ears are exceptionally deceptive- that has been proven repeatedly over the years.

Me either. I know a thread came up on MTD "shaking" basses a few years ago, and I exchanged e-mails and a phone call with MTD on it. He swears that before/after there is an "astounding" difference. I wish I could find the thread, but I'm short on time to look for it.
