Breaking Bad coming back

I{m revving up my grills for some Doctor Who and Walking Dead.
I{m mainly more excited for Doctor Who though, the 50th is going to be awesome. Smith regenerates into Capaldi on the christmas special.
If I could reccommend a show to fill the Breaking Bad void (atleast a little bit) I would say the two I just mentioned and Primeval BBC. Great show, they stopped production of it, but I have a pipe dream that BBC will start it up again. They have to!

My recommendations for post-Breaking Bad life (for all those with Netflix):

Luther (BBC)
The Killing (another AMC show)
Sherlock (BBC)
Top of the Lake (BBC)
The Fall (BBC)

All good cop dramas. Not a replacement for BB (:crying:), but pretty good time fillers.

How funny!

I had written (and deleted) a post yesterday wondering if anyone had seen Luther. It's another one I mini-binge watched when the "new season" started a month ago. It's fantastic! It made me want to move to London and live in an old high rise apartment.

There's only like 12 or 13 episodes. :bawl:

Yea it's a stretch to call them "seasons." More like a mini-series. Luther is definitely a bad ass.

Hell on Wheels (AMC) has stepped up its game this season. Very good show.

Yeah, I watch that one too. I like the premise, and there is some great acting and scenery, but the plot sometimes flags. That season finale, meh. I hope it gets renewed and they can get something going for real. I'm hooked now, so they accomplished that at least.

New Walking Dead this Sunday!

It's generally the way with most UK drama shows (beyond soaps) that the series are short. Most of the higher-quality shows only have one or two writers, rather than the predominant US model whereby there are a whole team of writers. It means that there may only be three, six, maybe up to twelve episodes in a series. The same thing happens in most of the 'good' comedies. Fawlty Towers only has twelve episodes in total.

Sherlock is a prime example. Two series, three hour-and-a-half episodes in each one. A third series is currently in production. I really don't mind so long as the show is actually good.

I still think the best thing that's been on UK TV in recent years in the BBC adaptation of 'Wallander' starring Kenneth Brannagh. It's absolutely wonderful. Dark, brooding, bleak, hard-boiled and challenging. The original Swedish series (based on a series of books) is good too but I believe that the British one is held in higher regard (generally) even over there.

Can't wait for Walking Dead to start up again! Supposedly there's going to be more action this season, which will be a nice change from the past two seasons that have focused more on character development. Something tells me there's going to be a breach in the prison and a lot of the new Woodbury residents are gonna go buh-bye :D

Actually, that seems to be what's in the trailer for the new season, so I'm pretty excited for it!

Agreed. I'll take quality over quantity any day! The Fall and Downton Abbey :hiding: are good examples of the short seasons also. I'll check out Wallander.

Downton Abbey? Give me strength...

I can't stand it. Maybe it's because I'm a stickler for period-correct language consistency. There are some real howlers in every episodes of words that didn't exist for twenty years until after the setting and I sit there and crease every time I hear one.

No matter. It's popular and probably for good reason!

Lol, I got dragged into watching that. I dunno I if it's the language, the content, or delivery, but I hate that show with a passion
