Breaking Bad

Serious stuff Walt's going through, now. I didn't want tonight's episode to end. Another great one like last week. While I'm bummed out that next season will be the last, since I watch so few shows on tv, I'm glad it will be ending while it's still good. So few shows do that and end up sticking around and wearing out their welcome/jumping the shark.

Also, another guest appearance from comedian Bill Burr (one of the thugs who showed up to make sure Ted wrote the check). Anyone who hasn't checked out his comedy specials Let it Go and Why do I Do This? should definitely do so. Dude's a riot. His character on the show - not so much.

Things are happening very quickly now. I'm feeling bad for Walt, he's in up to his eyeballs, and now his entire family is on the chopping block. The exact opposite of what he was hoping for. It's going to take another incredible stroke of good luck for him to survive this (or come out on top, which he has a history of doing). Only two episodes left this season, but an entire last season to go next year. Impossible to guess where this is going, like an intense rollercoaster, half of which is covered by dark tunnels.

There was definitely a lot of foreshadowing in tonight's episode. Some of it was already fulfilled, and other parts may just be something to think about.

I thought the camera angle at the end of the episode was very telling. Sometimes they just use unique camera angles for the artistic effect, but it seemed as if the end for Walt was drawing near.

Maybe Walt will come out on top again, maybe he won't, but it'll sure be entertaining to watch regardless.

Lots of big events occurred in the episode that will drastically shape the next season. I will be interested in seeing how this affects Jesse in the future episodes specifically.

SPOILERS

There was some really creative cinematography in this episode (as there is in many episodes). Very cinematic. The shot of Gus and his "helpers" standing over the shackled and battered Walt was awesome with the clouds passing overhead creating shadows over them. Then that final shot of Walt in the crawlspace and the camera pulling slowly up. In the episode where Gus takes Jesse to Mexico to do the cook, the overnight timelapse sequence outside the lab was memorable. Great technical production values going on here.

The circumstance of Ted Beneke's demise was somehow satisfying. He was such a sleazebag.

I had mixed emotions about this. Any time the death toll starts to climb exponentially and "freak accidents" enter the scene, I start to wonder why it's being written this way. A little too clean, quick, and easy perhaps. They must have wanted him gone pronto for some reason.

I will readily agree, the Beneke character got more and more unlikeable very quickly.

That episode was fantastic, not a dead moment through the whole thing. I loved the shot in the desert, with the clouds passing over.

Gus is a very conflicting character, part of me finds him to be likable as a complete bad ass. Yet he's still the villian. He's definitely one of the most intriguing characters. Mentioning Walt's wife, son, and infant child, was so sinister.

I feel like Mike is ready to pop as a character in some way. I think he'll end up in a position where he'll need to side with Gus, or with Jesse, over the fate of Walt. As much of a hard ass as Mike is, it seems like he has a real bond with Jesse.

MY GOD that was great television!!!!

Don't read any more if you haven't seen it yet.

SPOILER ALERT!!

I almost threw my drink at the TV when I saw Gus come walking out of Hector's room. I was like NO WAY DID HE SURVIVE! NO! NOOO!!!

But then when I saw his brain coming out of the hole where his eye used to be I went nuts!!!
