Breaking Bad

What happened? I fell asleep and the last thing I remember is Gus and the other drug lord taking shots at the pool. I knew there had to be some sort of twist coming!

That pill Gus took before Don Eladio arrived had a LOT to do with it.

Don Eladio and eveyone else took shots of tequila that was poisoned. A little while later everyone died, except for Jesse (he's an addict so couldnt have a shot) and Mike (security) as well as Eladio's security dude (who was killed by Mike). The three of them (Gus, Mike, Jesse) escaped, but only after Mike had been shot (not killed).

I thought the pill may have been for some kind of condition he had after his partner's death in that same spot. But I guess that's what "they" want you to think!

I saw him take the pill and knew there had to be some significants to it. Then when Don Eladio was like, "Is this a gift?" I knew that he, at least, was going to die.

I like that Gus & Mike have brought out the badass in Jesse. I like the shine theyve taken to him "I promise you this. Either we're all going home or none of us are."

Yeah, I got the impression Gus had something up his sleeve at that point too. This was all a little too neatly gift wrapped and subservient for a guy like Gus.

And Jesse is becoming quite the gangbanger. Not to mention he can cook about as good as Walt all by himself.

Was it 96.4% purity that Jesse cooked? I know it was a little over 96%, which is the level Gale was cooking at. I think I remember Gale saying that Walt was cooking near 98 or 99% purity. But for Jesse, coming from his days of adding Chili pepper "cuz thats his thing" he's come a long way.

Right, Jesse is "almost" as good as Walt, certainly as good as Gale, and that seemed to be good enough for Gus and the cartel.

Which makes you think...

Apparently Jesse was meant to get killed off in season one, but the writers were so impressed with the guy playing him that they decided to let him live. I can see why. This show just keeps on getting better. I also like that the next series is going to be the last. The pace of the show is so good that I can't think of anything worse than dragging it out unnecessarily!

The latest episode was especially awesome. That's how you deal with the cartel!

I expect now that the Don Eladio situation is resolved, Gus will pay another visit to Hector. Systematically taking out everyone around him before he finally decides to get his ultimate revenge.

Likewise, with that threat seemingly resolved for this season, things will probably turn back to Hank. You've got to wonder how far Gus will go to resolve that issue. I suspect that as he seemingly needs Walt less and less, any mercy for Hank will fade. How many bargaining chips does Walt have left since Jesse's allegiance to Gus is undoubtedly getting stronger each episode.

I was under the impression that the old man worked beneath the Don from the flashbacks at the pool before. Either way I am on the edge of my seat every Sunday night. Nice. :)

I thought this too, but Tio was the trigger man and may have formed a splinter rival cartel of his own. Remember Tuco answered to Tio, or seemed to look up to him. Who knows, but those two (Tio and Eladio) were the highest I've seen so far.

It's interesting how Gus visits Tio in the nursing home. You gotta love the sentimental touches.
