Breaking Bad

Episode 2: Both Walt and Jesse get hosed down. Temporary, I hope, but necessary for plot development. Jesse is the squeeky wheel yet again. And is Mike loyal to Gus--or afraid of him?

Skyler will be back, she will own the car wash. I still think Hank's "hobby" is far more than a silly diversion from his incapacitation. He's coming back with a vengeance someday.

After watching this weeks episode, I think the season is going to have more of an Egar Allen Poe feel to it - slow, constant building of underlying terror - instead of what we have seen so far.

Jesse doesn't want to be alone with himself to think about what he has done. This time around his drinking and doing drugs are to mask something instead of just having fun like before.

Walt feels like he is losing his grip on the whole situation. He is no longer the one that is making the decisions and desperately craves that power like a junkie and their next fix.

Hank is using the minerals to push (Marie) his wife away. Can you say "odd couple" at the condo?

Skyler is not happy that she cannot bully anybody around right now. Even Walt is putting her in her place and she does not like that one bit.

Mike is worried about what will happen with his family (daughter and grand daughter). He is also very unhappy about how Walt thinks that he can just walk all over everybody, that is why the subtle reminder.

@Longhair

Jesse: Agreed.

Walt: Agreed.

Hank: I'm not sure what he's up to yet.

Skyler: Acclimating to the situation and almost getting cozy with it.

Mike: Shaken to the core by recent events. Reevaluating his situation. Perhaps Mike knows Gus is having *everyone* tailed now and that might include Mike, in which case Mike's action in the bar was more for show.

What has Jesse gotten himself into? I honestly thought that when he was shooting up, things could not get any worse.

The only thing keeping me from feeling like I was one of the people in his house was the over whelming urge to jump through the tv and smack Skylar.

Just when I had actually started liking Marie and she falls back into her old kleptomaniacal habits. I agree about Mike and his paranoia about possibly being watched and the scene at the bar being "for show". I get the feeling that he would almost rather be helping/working with or for Walter than Gus, but something is being held over his head and keeping that from happening - perhaps Gus has someone watching over Mike's daughter and granddaughter (i.e. collateral).

I keep getting the feeling that there's going to be a "showdown" of sorts between Gus and Walt one minute, then keep remembering that the writers almost always veer away from the expected, so who knows how that "showdown" is going to transpire - if at all.

Keeping Gus out of the script and off camera for the sake of keeping him away from Walt is just not good for the show.

What I mean is, maybe Mike kills Gus? Maybe he leaves and moves the operation elsewhere? Maybe the DEA finally takes him down? They keep alluding to some great showdown between Gus and Walt and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen in the way they're leading us to believe it might. I agree keeping him off screen would be bad for the show, just that the "showdown" may not be as typical or cliche as it could be...

I have to disagree about keeping Gus of the screen and here is why: Look at all the questions and theories that it is bringing.

It seems like the under lying theme (at least the last 2 episodes) is "what you want and what you get are two different things."

Maybe Hank takes down Gus and somehow Walt and Jesse stay in the clear, opening the door for Walt to rebuild (with Mike now loyal to Walt as the muscle).

How are Walt and Skyler going to explain their ability to buy the car wash? If they can pull that off without arousing suspicion (the car wash turning out to be a huge moneymaker), maybe they can buy, say, a commercial laundry and a bunch of Los Pollos Hermanos fried chicken restaurants?

Los Pollos Hermanos = The Chicken Bros. If that doesn't aptly apply to Walt and Jesse I don't know what does. :) ‪Los Pollos Hermanos‬‏ - YouTube

I dunno where this is going...

Not sure what to make of the opening of this week's episode with Mike riding in the back of the Los Pollos Hermanos delivery truck and the ensuing shootout except that Gus' rivals are apparently ready to take very bold measures to disrupt his business.

Mike seems to clearly still be in Gus' camp after doubts raised last week.

Jesse is in deep trouble.

LOL, I just had to share:

Rush Limbaugh just dropped a free plug for Breaking Bad on his show today. He was talking to a caller about a high school chemistry teacher who can't read or write very well, and Rush asked the caller if she can "cook crystal meth." He then proceeded to outline the premise of the show.

That's why I listen to Rush, he's a very funny guy.
