Brian Bromberg Carvin Model Part 2

I'm the kind of guy that expects totally or predominately gold bridge when I pay for gold hardware...call me crazy. You can talk to the wonderful people at Hipshot and they'll sell you a gold piezo bridge plate for $30-40, I can't remember. The reason why Carvin doesn't sell totally gold Hipshots is for cost savings. Below is what it looks like with a gold piezo bridge plate (with orig black piezo saddles) on my B24P.
I'm guessing you're not talking about the whole bridge, right? Because on their web site it looks like that's bumping up against $200.
Not the whole bridge, just the bridge plate. In your case the piezo bridge plate. I've been buying regular bridge plates for my Carvins for quite some time now. Way cheaper then buying the whole bridge.
Just make sure it's for piezos as they are not interchangeable. Piezo bridge plates have little slots underneath the saddles for wires to go thru them. You have to call Hipshot in order to buy them.

Hey guys, seeing how the Brombergs won't play when the batteries are removed or discharged, is there some warning signs when they're dying? Does the sound start fading or breaking up, or does it just go dead?
usually with an active bass, it will change a bit, but still be pleasant for awhile. and then it will start to distort and choke, eventually refusing to work.
Yeah, why? Do tell...I'm curious. Both my B24 are the easiest playing and most comfortable basses in my stable. Ultra Jazz bass tone and sexy as all get out. A bolt neck version of this might be the end all be all. I have to admit that there is something about the attack/timbre/tone of bolt necks that I just can't reproduce with neck thru basses. When I plug in my 'plain Jane' SB4000, it brings that Grinch smile to my face.
I decided to give this thread a visit after being gone for awhile. After going back through the discussion, I realized that while I talked about pulling the trigger and ordering my B25, I never posted it once it arrived. In my excitement, I did share it on Facebook, getting some awesome feedback from the man himself. (He even shared it on the Carvin B2 Facebook page). In the spirit of Talkbass though, if there aren't pics, it didn't happen. That being said, after much delay and many hours playing, here is my beloved purple B25. Amazing bass, with the perfect combination of feel, sound, and beauty.

I'd just go for gold saddles. I think the black plate, in this case, works well with the black pickups and black burst. I'm actually surprised that it didn't come that way (gold saddles). Carvin certainly offers it. I'd give them a call.

Agree...very badass! Also agree with the gold saddles, but getting just the gold saddles from Hipshot would be more expensive than a gold bridge plate. But would totally look cool. And no...I've never had gold saddles on any of my Carvins with piezo bridges, even though that's the way it is in their pictures. I'm guessing that for endorsees only. It's a cost saving thing. But they never seem to cut costs like that their on guitars.

oh I missed the fact that is a piezo bridge. In that case: Carvin supplies any color saddles you want, as long as its black.
I'm curious about how to replace the bridge plate. Is it just a matter of removing the strings, unscrewing the old one and screwing in the new one, and then restringing? I have to ask because I tend to screw up mechanical things (when I was a kid, I once had my boss tell me I could screw up a steel ball with a rubber hammer), so I'm not sure I should do it myself instead of getting a guitar tech at GC to do it for me (and I'm loathe to let them put their hands on my new baby).
