Brian Cornwell and Buzzards Bass Shop

...never had an issue till he ran into a bunch of BS that he apparently had no control over.

While I agree about TB'ers (including me) sometimes being hasty to condemn, the way I remember this story was that he made up some wild and totally unrealistic story about a relative trying to take away his civil rights, while publicly-available city documents showed he was having recurrent problems with the law. So I don't buy the bit about "had no control over".

Though if he's gotten clean now, in whatever sense of the word "clean"... and if he pays back all the people that got swindled last year that didn't file Paypal claims within 45 days... then I wish him good fortune going forward.

I got a pretty good laugh out of that. It does have a blinking message at the top about ordering being shut down. Brian is not the most diplomatic guy when it comes to dealing with the average customer. Do business with him for a while, though, and he'll treat you great. I've been dealing with him for years now with no problems, and I've gotten a LOT of parts ordered and a bunch of bass work done.

Why would I do business with someone like that? I can find any parts I need, and do any work that needs to be done. The only reason I would give him any business would be because of him being on TB and trying to help a TBr out. I ain't interested in helping this guy. This isnt the first time his snotty emails to his customer's have been posted.
AFAIC, if you do business with him and eventually get screwed, you asked for it.

Then don't buy from him...nobody's making you. I just said he wouldn't purposely screw anyone over.

I don't have much worries about him screwing me over,as I communicate with him on almost a daily basis about all the things he's working on for me. That includes the custom bass for which I'm paying him no labor cost on that's on his site. I also have a couple other smaller projects he's doing for me that aren't on there.

hello

Just to relate to you a recent experience with Buzzard's Bass. I never heard about Buzzard's before. Yesterday I went to the site which looks nice and professional and ordered some stuff (stranded wire for guitar wiring) and then paid by credit card. I of course recieved the order confirmation etc. There is that window where we can let an additional private message before to check out, I just wrore some words: congratulations for your site, we are a family of luthiers... that's all. Today I received a mail from CCNOW, telling me that my order is cancelled, because we are so call luthiers and we ordered stuff for amplification and ordering products they should have known was for amplifiers, not guitars

It's a joke or what ? the site is open to any customer looking to buy what else he wish and not forced to say what his job or anything else, If CCNOW apply its rules to Brian who is luthier, he will not have the right to sell anything else except for guitars, but he is selling stuff for amps. Extremely bizarre !!!

So anyway I'm congratulating myself that they cancelled my order.

I invite everyone to not laugh
All the best and congratulations for your forum

Perhaps Brian has fallen into the dangers of being sole proprietor and just gets buried and way behind?

My orders still pending when payments were accepted early and mid June. Emailed asking for updates on my orders have had no reply. This isn't too outlandish a time passage, but doesn't seeing the payment made from your account (I use Paypal) mean its shipped?

My orders have been limited to parts but I've never had any issues. He's always let me know when something would take a little longer if he had to order it himself. Sorry to read about other people's troubles, hope everything gets resolved.

Ordered a tuner 6/7. E-mail said I should have order in 3-5 days. Received another e-mail saying item shipped. It is now 6/27! Where's my items. I contacted the manufacturer of said item (since Brian said he had to order it) and they said they have never received any orders from him (they have the item in stock) nor can they contact him!

PayPal dispute started!

A very good friend of mine recommended Brian & Buzzards for some components I was looking for when I got my MIM back in Feb. I contacted Brian, he was quick to respond, answered all my questions quickly and knowledgably, and I made the order and got my parts promptly. I basically ordered a custom loaded PG (with custom pickguard) for my precision. He got it all put together (including the new wiring harness I had him build), and it was packaged securely and safety.

I had no communications problems at all with him. I'll work with Brian for my needs in the future, I have no complaints, and only praise for the work he's done for me. Hopefully everyone can get things straightened out. It pains me to see experiences like those describe happened.

And not to be a nay-sayer, but I'm curious. What company would give out order information for someone else's orders? Even if you call and say 'so-and-so was supposed to order something for me', I'm not sure it's standard business practice for any business to them to say 'Oh, yeah, here's all the order details'. That can easily open the door for fraud and package interception.

A reputable and well known manufacturer of guitar hardware! And I do not doubt their response to me. Doesn't matter. I had a deadline and it has now passed. I don't have my items nor has he returned any of my subsequent e-mails! That's enough for me to want my money back.

You know it's fine that 'some' folks have had good dealings and I'm happy for you! There are a lot more folks who have NOT had good dealings and it has been documented! Not only that but along with nasty replies to e-mail, I find that completely unacceptable!

That's a shame. Hope you guys will get your problems squared away and your money returned.

I ordered from Brian/Buzzards for the first time at the end of April. I placed an order for some pickup covers and a Fender American Standard P-bass replacement pickguard.

I received immediate automatic communication forms and also a specifically written response from Brian/Buzzards.

A day or two later, I decided to order a few more FASP-Bass replacement pickguards.

Brian immediately responded to tell me the pickup covers were out of stock and he combined the order to save on shipping costs. Furthermore he immediately reimbursed my debit account for the pickup covers he did not have in stock and the one shipping charge. I received the pickguards about 5-6 days later (at the most) and I'm very happy and satisfied with the pickguards and the experience of shopping with Buzzards. Brian was nothing but professional and helpful.

Yesterday afternoon, I placed another order with Buzzards and then contacted Brian later that evening to request if I could add on a few items. I fully expect this purchase experience to be as thorough and well handled, as my first. I'm sure Brian will contact me some time today, with a response.

Looks like I spoke to soon. Brian has not responded.

I expected a response from him regarding my request to add more items to the order and I expected a response from him regarding the turnaround time on the initial Fender American Standard P-bass replacement pickguard and cream pickup covers. The first time I ordered he was very helpful in explaining the process of him ordering the picguards and how long it would take. And how the pickup covers were not in stock, that they were expected to come into stock some time in June, and how he was going to refund that portion of the order. Everything played out and shippped exactly as he described and in a timely manner.

Thus far the only thing I received was the initial automatic DRI*CCNOW.COM*BUZZBASS order reciept (recieved on June 24th), when I placed the order on June 24th. That's it.

But, no charge has been applied to my debit card. Nor is there a charge "Holding" or Pending to my debit account, for the total amount of my order.

So I guess I was a bit overly-optimistic to think things would go exactly as they did the first time I purchased from him.

Having placed this order at the end of the day Friday, June 24th. I expected I'd receive communication and a response to my request, yesterday (on Monday, June 27th), considering it was the weekend.

Well, hopefully he'll communicate some time today and respond to my question. We'll see how this goes. I'll post any updates when they occur. If they occur.

Don't expect that order to be filled anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, Brian's business and customers are things he takes very seriously and he wouldn't intentionally screw people over because he is a good guy in general. I wouldn't expect him to charge your card if he has no intention of filling the order. Unfortunately, personal issues for a one man show create big problems because there's nobody there to fill the orders when he's not able to. And right now he's not able to.

His excuses so far seem to be complete BS from what ive read. He has ignored customers emails and phonecalls as well as removing his phone number from his website for a BS reason. On top of that his being arrested story is also complete BS. I can understand giving someone a chance but this tool has been screwing people over for a while now. The only posts he has made on TB have been childish and unprofessional for a buisiness owner.

Knowing him personally I can safely say that you're wrong about all of his reasons being BS. Maybe from a business perspective they aren't good reasons but like I said, you can't always separate personal from business when you're the only one and you don't have access to your phone and email.

Not going to get into his most recent posts on here, I don't endorse that for when you're trying to run a business. But I understand why. It's not my place to post about that stuff here though, as its nobody's business. If people are out money, do what you have to do to get it back.
