1 Meg pickup?

Yeah... nice catch! My bad.
I think a "piezo" my brain must have have gone into way-too-high impedance mode.

1 Meg pickup?

I would first get some new strings like nickel roundwounds o something like that. If that's enught brightness for you, lookout for string wear to the point you loose brightnes... this can become expensive if you are planning of getting new strings pretty frequently, but that'll give you a good idea of how much top end you can get.Hello, I wanna start with saying the bass i own and play is a Jackson spectra bass, with the P J bass style pick up configuration I was wondering what pick ups would be ideal for getting a brighter, louder, more clear bass tone?
I'm not looking for anything to add bass to the sound, as I tend to prefer doing that on my amps EQ system, or with my pre amp, and when I record, I always add it when I am mastering, preferring to start with a bright DI signal.
What pick up's are recommended to help me get a brighter tone?
I am more of a player than I am a gear guy so to be honest, my knowledge falls extremely short when it comes to bass gear. I have no idea what is the favourite among bassists, or what bass culture has fawned over for the past 30 years lol. I don't even have a favourite bassist. I just like to groove, but I aim to change that and learn a bit more about gear
How old are your strings. If more than a month, replace with stainless steel.
How much cable between bass and amp? Any pedals?
I have been listening to samples of the SJB-3. I like them used individually. If I used a pick a lot I would go with those. I like something lower output for slapping with both pickups onMaybe a mix n match! I feel like a Seymour SJB-3 will work great in the bridge. Maybe something similar to what Matt Freeman from Rancid or Mike Dirnt from Green Day are using for the neck?
I have also heard that the Geezer PJ set can get it going on. I'm not up on the P side of things, admittedly.
