Bring back the old form.

If you could choose for yourself between these two:

1) Access to All TalkBass content from its beginning until today.
or
2) Access only to All future TalkBass content from today onwards.

On which would you place the higher valuation?

So, does it make more sense for TB to focus limited funds in carrying forward its massive database with needed foundational software platform updates or into making a whiz-bang online forum with an ideal user experience to attract the best new content and content creators.

Update the database first, then honor the fine players and posters who made and make TB a terrific and vital forum.

I appreciate when change is necessary. I am finding the new format awkward to navigate. That may just be familiarity with what was before, but I find I have to make more keystrokes to get to the particular forum to review threads than before. To me, that is a step backwards, not forwards.

I frequent TB and one other forum with a similar format, so consider how limited my scope is… The other forum I’m on looked and felt like TB, and did a similar update a few years back. I believe they are using XenForo like TB. That transition felt much easier and the updated format felt more consistent with the old format. I was expecting that the TB update would be as smooth as it was on the other forum but that hadn’t been the case so far.

I have no idea how similar or different the forums are on the back end and in terms of user traffic. There could be a variety of contributing factors far outside of my awareness.

I don’t hate the new TB, but it’s not feeling natural or comfortable yet, particularly on my phone. My desktop experience in dark mode isn’t that bad, but I do a fair amount of browsing on my phone.

I'm sure if we got rid of the old stuff, it'd soon be replaced by the same questions, complaints, P-worship, etc.

Jesus. It’s amazing how many people can’t read or comprehend that it HAD to be done. The reasons have been stated more than once. The new look doesn’t make me want to quit but the lack of understanding by people who can’t grasp that online stuff advances and you need to keep up. Argh.

Here’s old forum for you…

Which is better, P or J
Should I use flats or rounds?
Passive of active?

I honestly don't see all that much difference between the old site and the new one. The new one has a few more features that I like better. The old one felt laughably stuck in the early 2000's.

What is this "Achievement" nonsense? I feel like I'm being patted on the head for...nothing, really.
haha that's pretty much the perfect distillation of living in the age of social media.
