Bring back the old form.

I personally don't see any improvement what so ever with the new format. What problem is this new format a solution for?
Paraphrasing and based on recall of prior threads: the previous platform/version was at its end of life and the developer/company was no longer going to be offering support for it. So TB and crew needed to update the website to be able to continue to maintain and improve it as ideas/preferences come along.

There was also a security issue. Applications like this are built using components (libraries and widgets) that are used in common across many other applications and platforms. Over time, those components become vulnerable to hacks as attackers learn and probe their weaknesses. Eventually, the creators of those components stop patching the old versions as newer more secure versions are released, or the operating systems they run on no longer support the older libraries and widgets. At that point, there's no option to continue other than upgrading.

It's somewhat analogous to the reason that certain amplifiers, pedals, etc, are no longer manufactured; either the parts that were used to make them are no longer available, or they are unable to meet newer consumer safety product requirements.

I don’t care for it at all, seems way more cumbersome, not interested in trying to figure it out, this is the only time I’ve engaged in a post, honestly with all the “silly “ pointless post that go on anymore, it’s time to move on,

I think Paul said the old forum was terribly outdated in terms of script. I’m not computer language savvy, but I get the need to change to a more contemporary program that can keep up with internet speeds, changes in computer language…whatever.

I would be ALL FOR a “TB Classic” skin though that mimics the old display. :)
Changing things to work with newer technology does not require making the product unfavorable.
My subscription will fade into the sunset, making room for new members.

Y’all should accept that upgrades like this are 100% not able to be reversed. There are certain patches and adjustments that can be made to new sites like this but reverting back to the old one is not an option so please learn to accept it and move on with life. It’s like when you get a new car where the layout is completely different or some other major change that you need to get used to… It’s really annoying at first but after a while, you won’t even notice it anymore. You can dig your heels in and complain about it till the end of time but you’re just going to frustrate yourself. There were things about the old site that were annoying too when it was first deployed that we all forgot about after a while as well.

Well, If nothing else, the ads are bigger, and maybe more of them per page? So, theres that. 🤣

But, personally, I like the new (well, not "new" in internet world, just talkbass), "Like options", with emojis. Instead of just liking something, you can let folks know your feelings, without a long response.. kinda like this one i'm typing here.

But yea, the "old one was quite outdated. Most sites I frequent have this "new" format. (you'll get used to it in no time.).

Outdated software that was so old the developer was dropping support for, which becomes a HUGE security risk.

To oversimplify it:
Most updates to software are security patches. When legacy software is no longer supported, as new security risks are found, the old software is not patched to protect against the new risks and leave gaping holes in the security. Similarly, if software is so old it requires an unsupported operating system to run on outdated servers, you run into similar issues with huge security holes in the OS and server, not just the app running the site.

And really, now that i've used the updated TB for more than half a week, it's not that different. All the old bits seem to be there, or at least the ones i use.

It's actually much more in line with how everything else on the internet works now. The old TB really felt stuck in 2004.

Yes there are a few bugs popping up: Teething pains.
Yes, it was slow for a bit: The site had to re-index the entirety of TB's history & storage.
Yes, some layout things changed: That's the nature of progress. Also, it seems like as a lot of the layout and design options are found to be different, a lot of the differences are being changed by the admins/mods to be more in line with how things used to work. (It looks like they got rid of the voting option which i liked, but it seemed like most people got confused by.) :(
