Yeah I guess I'm too old to "get" dubstep and such. I don't mind techno, but I just found a lot of dubstep to be inharmonious and unmelodious...totally IMO though. Every time I say I'm not into it, people say "Oh well you just have to listen to GOOD dubstep..like Skrillex"...and that's when I go "Uhhh...got anything else?" lol.

I'm not fond of dubstep, techno, or most electronic music. I have heard some of Julien K's stuff and liked it, but to be honest, MOST synth-based stuff (though there is stuff that uses synths that I like, e.g. Rush and The Who) I have a tendency of not liking. It's all in the timbre of synthesizers, I don't know, it just sounds completely "unnatural" to me.

I wouldn't mind a number.

I'm not particularly fond of dubstep either, but a lot of the older stuff is completely different from Skrillex and the like. Try some Digital Mystikz, or maybe some Skream.

Sure thing, just give Bassofthe a PM and he'll hook you up :bassist:

I'll check them out. I'm always open to new music, but it takes me a bit if all I've heard is crap lol

The recent talk about dubstep in this thread has me wondering. I stumbled upon a song in a video on youtube that wasn't that bad, until the "graahhgaaaakkwubwubwubwubwubwubwuuuuubliraung;jnsds" started in on the song. It was "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" by Skrillex, but 40 seconds into the song the nice synth pad loop they had was so ruined by the wubz that it made it intolerable. My current band had many different styles we were incorporating (planning and evolving them, album by album), and how MuteMath incorporates their synths is pretty well done IMO. My motto with music is "If you don't like it, fix it", so if the music needs something done to it, then you can do it how you like it to get the results you seek or enjoy.

ANYHOW (I swear this will be pony related lol), it gave me the idea to do my own version of the song with a few clips. I'll call it "Grotesque Draconequus and Pleasant Ponies (Sweet Belles Remix)". The bass will obviously be done differently, with a mix of synth and actual bass that has effects applied to it. This part will have Discord quotes littered into it, while the nice intro part will remain largely the same with Sweetie Belle and Rarity vocals instead of the Asian sounding dude in the song. I will have to wait until I have a midi keyboard, virtual synth software, and some free time....so maybe it will be done in a few years lol
