Broughton Audio Super Thread

No pictures, but I've discovered cardamom is a great replacement for cinnamon if you run out and you find yourself craving some cinnamon toast. Incidentally, for those that are like me and don't consume sugar, powdered stevia in the raw is an excellent replacement in things like cinnamon toast too.

I don’t have any gigs, but I’ve got a gig board. From Broughton monoculture to a couple of choice cuts, but I’m digging this setup with the P bass. Definitely need to upgrade to more real estate though… Too many compromises with the selections on there now, and no room For the FFXL :(. Plus I can’t find more than 4 of my 9V supply cables for my old DC Brick. Time for that DC7 maybe, too. :)

Pondering board upgrades this morning, I'm thinking the Temple Audio Duo 17 should do nicely for a modest footprint upgrade, while still staying relatively lightweight and easy to schlep. A single Cioks Hi5 module with a daisy chain for some of the low-current 9V pedals would be a nice tidy solution to start, with availability/room to add another Hi5 in the future if needed. All in with a soft bag is about $360 CAD from L&M. Pretty reasonable.

I want to make sure I have enough room to add the FFXL, JoshWah, Terraformer, Solarian, and Studio One, and at least one Sushi tube pedal to complete the ensemble. Might need that second power supply module to start with. lol

Don't expect to effectively use the square pads to secure the pedals into the Duo 17 - not if you want to put your top-jack pedals side by side, and eventually change their order. The holes just don't align well to the pedals...

Yeah, Someone (maybe you?) had mentioned that previously. I’ve got some Velcro strips laying around taking up space, and I’m not above using zip ties. :)

USPS came through.

Broughton in a box! This was last weekend's project built with parts I already had. This is a Broughton RFE, Jay Ganz Straight Ahead power amp and Truetone 1 Spot circuit board (with a couple extra DC jacks to run a compressor pedal). I've doubled down on my RFE experiment by making it an all-in-one amp. I've played two gigs using just the RFE and power amp and it was amazing. Granted, it was only amazing at full volume with the full band (sounds kind of sterile at home with low volume) and only really works with my active EMG pickups - I didn't like it so much with my other basses - but since I've been using the EMG bass more often than not, this will be my blues/rock gig amp for now - and it fits in my gig bag. I could have done this with any preamp pedal, like the Broughton SD on my pedal board, but very happy with the project.
