Broughton Audio Super Thread

All this and we ended up using Monocomp straight into the amp a lot lol

Here's my setup after switching to flats..

The Fliptop only goes on when I need some more pressure and grit.
The HPF is setting is a pure room setting. It's not always that hi.
What's not seen is the high shelfed bass on my amp. It might seem counter intuitive to raise the bass on the amp while the HPF is set high (100hz), but it works with the band. Really well......

Your low end isnt too boomy with the high pass that high? I always have to keep mine lower than 50-60, maybe it's my fat strings too
If I boost it any more than it is, it will.

If it's the HPF on the RFE, then yes it can, but only if it gets boosted more than it is. The utility HPF does a good job of cleaning up the boom, and high shelving the bass on the amp helps to bring back the low end but in a more controlled and smooth manner.
When I look at my setup, it sometimes doesn't make sense. But I've spent months trying to get a great tone that fits with the boys. And this setup is it. My bass has never sounded so good. It now works for me instead of me working for it. This is one of the reasons why I've been slow on replacing my MXR comp. Since switching to flats I've had to learn to control myself and it has paid off with dividends. I still want an OmniComp, but I can wait for the drop storm to settle.

This pic is giving me anxiety. Or maybe it's the two giant cups of coffee I had. Or the fact that I got a new job offer and I'm planning on putting in my notice at my current job today.

On that note, My cup is empty. I should probably go make more coffee.

Normal after hectic studio day lol. Let's test this here for this song, lets test that one, lets...
You should have seen the pile of stuff I brought to the studio the last time I had an actual album to record (more than a few years ago now, and pre-Broughton obsession). I think we ended up with 4 channels for bass. All for an album that never even saw the light of day lol. Sounded gnarly though.

Yay! Tracking says the Omnicomp is supposed to land in my mailbox today.

A while back somebody asked about the time from order to delivery. For me: order placed 4/1, delivery 4/6. I'm in a metro area of West Virginia (major postal hub about 50 miles up the Interstate; FedEx air facility at the local airport; UPS distribution center on the outskirts of town).

After I spend some time with the Omni, I'll post some comparisons with the Empress Bass Comp I've been using.
