Just asked this is in the string forum, but any of yuse guys have thoughts on a good short scale string set so I can string a Gretsch Jr Jet A-C?

What chu looking for? Rounds or flats? I tried the shorty GHS Pressure Wounds on my short-lived Supro Huntington and that was a good sound. I flipped that for a JMJ Mustang and I'm still rocking the factory Fender flats on that one.
I just jumped into a flatwound conversation thread today, and it's making me remember how much I liked GHS Precision flats. I've also heard lots of good things about Dunlop flats, but never tried them and not even sure if they come in short scale.
Ohhhh I didn't catch that part. Thought that was part of the model name lol.
I think I'll bow out of the convo in that case.

You should check the local bylaws to see if you're even allowed to string a bass A-C.

Hey--I was thinking you were wrestling with a tone problem, so left it at that. There's a terrific creative application of an HPF that I learned about in the Mesa Subway thread. (The 800+, WD, and TT amps have a built-in adjustable HPF.) If you want to get a taste of the wallop a sealed SVT cab gives you, you can boost the bass EQ on your amp (typically a shelving EQ), and then raise the cutoff on the HPF to dump the super-lows. Pretty good trick, I figure.

RFE knob positions:
Flatish
10 oclock noon. 10 oclock
9 oclock. 6 oclock 3 oclock
Now just slightly boost for modern cab sim
11 oclock noon. 11 oclock
9 oclock. 6 oclock 3 oclock
Or bring it back a bit for vintage
11 oclock noon. 11 oclock
7 oclock. 6 oclock 4 oclock
Boost some mids
10 oclock 2 oclcok 10 oclock
9 oclock. 5 oclock. 3 oclock
Play around these rough settings they aren't exact.
For the Omni I would want to get some squish n pump action, but don't have one... Threshold high, ratio past noon, attack just past noon amd release past attack. Mix at 1 to 2 oclock and gain as you need.
Also, dirt -> filter -> omni -> RFE

This is my fav coloring combo, Omni and rfe, for punchy I reverse the attack/release and turn up the mids on rfe, so far I like it better than monocle and monocomp, apex is still a keeper though, reminds me of a v1 empress
