Broughton Audio Super Thread

Anyone every try the Hagerman Value Boost?
It or the Sushi Box More was my plan B. But I still have fun ahead my Power supply, pedaltrain nano max and OC-5 are out for delivery. DCX Bass is due tomorrow. I don't think I'll wait for this retailer to get the Black version in-stock.

Enjoy your TUBES....... now fingers crossed for Subsonic or Sentinel releases.

I haven't missed a drop that I received an email for in the past (and I don't F5). I know this one was quick, but why wouldn't email make a difference?
It was over before the ‘ding’ could register in the brain and make it through the thought process of going to the site.

I’ll live.

I don’t necessarily mind missing out, what irked me is the fact i started F5ing at midnight. I worked a full 8 hour shift, it seems with nothing to show for it. I feel like an art major at a Starbux.
What time zone are you?

That's just an issue that can be solved with more automation
Dang automation taking our jobs, and our drops.

This game costs way too much time
You're not wrong about that. It would be more respectful of customers' time to provide a specific drop time.

But that's not how Broughton Audio works: it's Josh's business so, while we can choose whether or not to support it, he gets to decide how his drops are structured. That said, he:
  • keeps his prices affordable relative to his peers.
  • regularly introduces new products. This year we got the Subsonic, Proto DI, and the Fantasm.
  • he doesn't bundle preamps and pedals.
  • doesn't post condescending updates to his website.
  • has been making an effort of late to ensure popular products are (eventually) available in sufficient supply. Prominent examples being the Omnicomp, JoshWah, and Scorpion, but I see the re-re-release and refinement of older pedals as further evidence of this practice. This year alone Broughton dropped the Archetype Valve Boost (now with upgraded power supply), the Messenger (now in 125B size), the PLL (also in 125B size), and an additional round of Proto DIs. There's also a revised Resound and Modulation Station on the horizon. Furthermore, Broughton Audio dropped batches of the RFE, the Calamity, the FFXL, the Scorpion, the Silver Deluxe, and the Studio Boost Mini (another re-sized pedal, though one already in existence) this year. Plus the new pedals mentioned above. And then there's the upcoming Christmas drop. That's a lot for a solo builder! And I'm probably forgetting a drop or two. All this to say that what Broughton Audio lacks in quantity of drop size, it more than makes up for in quantity of drops. And quality of product, of course. When you think about it as a whole, it's actually quite astounding how much Josh builds in a year.
All this to say that while I agree the unknown drop time does force customers to spend more of their time (and to lose sleep) than is necessary, I'm willing to indulge this quirk of Josh's because of how else he runs his business. He's earned that.
Oh my OCD..
Look away! It's centered in your dreams, if not your memory :)

Vents are overrated. Stick the tubes out the top of the pedal.

On a somewhat related note (related due to tubes). I purchased an Ampeg PF50T a few months ago. Love the amp, but it presents a new problem. I had built my pedalboard around preamp pedals (Fliptop, SV-Pre, Silver Deluxe, Ictineo). I now find myself never turning on a preamp pedal. Am I doing it wrong?

Have a feeling I may face the same thing whenever I'm able to pick up a D800+.

Can confirm.

Page said coming soon.

I hit refresh on my browser. (Had been doing so about every 3-5 seconds.)

Brief glance at phone receiving a text and from a Broughther that it was live. Did not even open the text message, just saw the notification.

Looked back up at computer screen, Page finished refreshing and it was Sold Out.

Worth mentioning I'm on a 1.2 gig internet connection, and had no other browser tabs open.

Mmmmm Crushed dreams and sleepless nights. Delicious.
