Can you say more about the Quicksilver offering the Archetype tonal profile? Josh says "The 12AT7 is configured similar to the Broughton Archetype family of pedals and preamps. One triode directly feeds a heavily amplified signal into the other triode, which is biased to give asymmetrical compression and harmonics, greatly amplifying the effect while only needing one tube. Although this can provide overdrive, it shines best as on the edge of breakup." I always understood this to mean that the electrical path is similar, but it sounds like you think they are tonally quite similar as well?
.
No, i wouldn't expect the QS and Arch Boost to be similar sounding as i do not hear such similarities with the Arch mains and the QS. There's something though between the two latter that is, to me, the Arch 'flavour'. In my words it's 'these mids', but technically speaking, guess it's more complex than that as the QS and the Arch are voiced quite differently imo. Both shine though (imo) at adding an extra presence that makes one's bass tone standing out in a band setting. This is where Archetype assymetrical compression may explain what i'm expressing as 'these mids'.
