Anybody have any recommendations for a multi-instrument stand that will hold 5-7 basses and wont break the bank? I may wind up making one, the ones I've seen that suit my tastes are $$$ for what they are.

Hercules makes some nice ones. I prefer hanging them from the headstock so mine are all on the wall on individual hangers.
I looked at the Hercs. Probably my best choice if i don’t make my own stand. Got a buddy with a full shop, ima ring him up. He owes me. I can’t do the wall thing. Doesn’t fit the wife’s decor.
I’ve used the older version of this one 13+ years now. My guitar player has had his even longer.

Just a general question regarding the Super Stack: can it do a little saturation? Or is it in general all clean? Currently looking for something tubey that can do at least a little bit of saturation (considering the CAPO instead).
Yes, that's about as far as it goes though. I thought it was only clean at first, but listening carefully its there - The only SS I've been able to drive is the SSDI with a BBA in front.

IME It really depends on what you feed it. I tend to think of it as a preamp without a gain knob. I use a Jive just upstream as a clean boost to push the Super Stack into +/- breakup.
Agree. K&M Guardians are my favorite multi stand. I have one in each size at this point. May not meet the don’t break the bank requirement for some though. They are certainly not the cheapest of multi stands. Well worth the price given the quality though. I am sure most of us have spent more on pedals without a second thought.
Wow! Thanks! Glad i have you guys! The K&M 5 looks really nice. Won’t break the bank. I’ve got the tools and free materials to make a custom wooden stand, but it would take me some time just to sketch something up, and i would be flying by the seat of my pants. I can always make another one based on the K&M. I missed that one during my search.

Personally, I’d move that “considering” up a few notches on the priority scale.
I’ve only had mine for a couple of hours and it ain’t going anywhere.
One thing to note is that jazz bass bodies get pretty close to the floor with the stand as it comes. They have holes in the bottom to add casters (comes with a pad covering the holes). It is a standard office chair caster size. I had some extra feet from my Roc N Soc Lunar chairs that I used to add a few inches of clearance to mine.
$250 seems steep for that, but I've never been in the market for the multi-stand setup. Would build if it were me, and it sounds like you have what you need. Still, agreed with @Lowendtech on the wall-hangers. Drill first, ask questions later. Your wife will prefer basses on the wall to unsightly holes created from removing the hangers you installed while she was gone...

Its beyond the decor; shes got the entire house filled with probably 1500 lbs of wood furniture. Its a townhouse so both long side walls have zero space to be able to get at anything i could hang on the walls. There would be some sort of furniture below them, making them inaccessible and the perpendicular walls are nothing but windows.

Totally legit.
Sturdy enough to be stable. Soft enough to flex and not damage bodies if you bump into it. Part of why I really like these stands.
