i think it depends on whether you consider performing as a task or a privilege. our band generally plays mustang sally, brown eyed girl, keep your hands to yourself, etc. almost every gig. for years now. and we keep getting booked.
i consider it a privilege that people pay to hear me and the band play that song (or any song) for them.

We had a request for it last night, and played it to a very crowded dance floor. I don't like doing it, but you have to give the people what they want.
