Browsing Classifieds - What Are You Looking For?

What are you looking for when browsing the classifieds?

Thanks all who've participated so far! Certainly should have added a "Seeking Unique and/or Rare Objects" option – that's usually what I'm on the lookout for as well but sorta filed that under "The Gem I always Wanted."

That Pterodactyl bass is nuts, glazed over that several times, thanks for bringing it the attention it deserves!

I usually go in just trying to kill some time and browse a bit. This has turned out to be a rather expensive way to occupy my time...

I'm mostly just browsing since I truly am happy with my gear. However, when I'm in the Basses forum, I sort of keep my open for my white whale. I've only seen one for sale here although I recently saw a four-string version pop up recently (I would want the 5). "White whale" might not be the right way to put it because I'm actually not *actively* chasing it down. But if I happen to see one pop up, I'll be almost powerless to pass it up.

Both for fun and for deals.

I recently found a deal I couldn't pass up in the classifieds and now have a workhorse bass that will be my "one" for a long time and keep me GAS free.

Of course, folks who have stuff for sale/trade in the classifieds are looking for people to do business with.

Finding myself frequently in the Classifieds, I often wonder what I’m there for beyond a distraction to kill time. Shouldn’t I be doing something better with my time? I have a substantial amount of gear I’m happy with, shouldn’t I be writing music instead?

What do you browse the classifieds for? You can only choose three options. Perhaps this has been done before but I’d be interested where your heads are at, especially if you spend a good amount of time on this forum.

Something to agonize over until it sells.

I'm very specifically searching either Reverb or the classifieds for the following:

Rickenbacker 4003W
Fender Mustang (the sort with the little pickup, not the PJ)
Musicman Stingray

and more recently, either a Dingwall or a Strandberg for that fanned fret fix

I looking for a Interstellar Overdrive rack pre...

Everything I ever sold that I should not have. I got my Demeter pre back. My Interstellar OD back (Get one, Mr Feg Bass, they are phenomenal!). My Jazz Deluxe back. A Crown power amp back. And my 212 cabs back. I'm pretty well set, now. I do look for parts as backups for my main basses' parts. And for stuff I know will wear out in a future. But now I just browse mostly outta habit. And to learn about stuff I'll never be able to own or play.

I probably shouldn't look over the classifieds. I have everything I want or need, but even though I'm definitely not a fiver kinda guy, if I find an Alembic Elan+ five-string with a walnut top and AXY pickups I am probably going to have to buy it.

Really good deals. I am very curious about hass gear I've never tried. If I see something that grabs my interest selling for a great price I'll pull the trigger. It's not about flipping. It's more about being able to get out of it without losing if it doesn't live up to the hype for me.

I voted "something specific", but I'm "just browsing" sometimes too. I think one should look at somewhere else for "really good deals". Used gear prices here on TB are at the expensive side of the spectrum in general and IMO.
