Brubaker Brute Club, Part 2

Just did some checking. Donovan Bankhead of fretspot.com has a 5 string SC (merlot) in stock.

Well, I have failed miserably at my attempt to route a new pickguard for my brute 5 and damaged my original in the process :(. Before I order a replacement, I thought I'd check in here. Anyone got an old JJ or MJ pickguard you wouldn't mind selling?

I've had my Brute now for a week and its ideal! I can get so many different tones from the OBP-3 and the Barts. The flat radius fingerboard has taken some getting used to, but other than that, i have to say i'm impressed.

These are some pretty darn cool basses for under a grand. The build quality is fantastic too. I'm starting to get the mojo that happens with the neck thru/bolt on thing. Lower register notes seem more defined than say a Fender bolt-on.. YMMV however :p

I knew you would like it. I never should have gotten rid of that bass. It is so versatile and sounds and plays like a bass that cost way more!!!! Enjoy the bass man!!!

I just had my first recording session with it this afternoon....

IT PLAYS LIKE BUTTA!!! The direct tone was so smooth and even. Real "plump" sounding. The bass itself sounds kind of thin unplugged, but man... once this bad boy gets plugged in....its a real beast!

Corner Music here in Nashville has 2 SC's on the floor, burst finish 4 and a merlot finish 5. I keep going back and forth with the merlot finish, but I'm going to go have a talk with them and maybe try to contact Brubaker to see if it's even a possibility to get my hands on a burst finish SC 5.

Have JD call me next week.

I wonder what happened with the shipment? I thought by now this thread would be busy with commenst about Brutes.

From what I know the new factory that was producing the Single Cuts and new Double Cuts screwed up royally so the whole shipment had to be sent back - the SC's, the "normal" Brutes, and the new blueburst and brownburst Brutes.

Like I said, there are literally no new Brutes of any kind available right now except for a couple 4 strings and what dealers have in inventory. Rumor has it that the replacements for the bad shipment will be in at the end of March...

Bummer. I was kinda following how these were selling by watching what came and went on the ebay stores. Looked like a bunch up for sale (or maybe just pre-sale) at the end of Dec and early Jan. They quickly seemed to fly off the shelves, so to speak. So, being curious, I checked the feedback from the sellers to see how many and how quickly they sold. Only found one or two feedbacks related to a Brute sale. At that point I figured something not to good must have happened. :(

Hope all gets worked out in short order and that Tom and Kevin can afford to keep on getting a great product out to bass players everywhere!

My brute 5er, finally got a picture. I really want make the mod that phillybass made on that humbucker switching but can't find any resources (diagrams) online. Might just have to go to a shop. Does anyone know if brubaker is going to make pickguards more readily available as an accessory?

Send a request to Tom or Kevin. I'm sure they could help you out. I had my dealers tech do the work before I took delivery. I got my SC from Donovan Bankhead of fretspot .com

If they need someone to go over there and babysit and assure quailty I'll do it :-) or maybe Tom will be taking an extended trip To China. :-)
