Brubaker Brute Club, Part 2

I found where I ordered the pickups for my Brute JJ, it was these:
Bartolini 59CBJS L/S 5 String Jazz Bass Set, Single Coil, Classic Bass - Best Bass Gear

The neck pickup is the same on either the JJ or the MM/J....59CBJS long.

I just checked and you're correct. I still had the box I ordered the 59CBJD-LN1 direct fit.

I just picked up two brute 5 string factory second off of eBay. The seller is actually AP international and was the original distributor. I got a single cut 5 in Merlot finish It has a single Nick in the fretboard at about the 11th fret other than that flawless. The other was a jjx5 in natural finish . Only issues it had was some scratches on the back and a little fret sprout. Took care of that with my stew Mac fret end file. He will send pics if asked and show the flaws ,at those prices it's hard to pass up.

Got the bart 57 deep tone and DL5CBC along with 4.6 / 918 pre!

The install took a little while and it was not a straight up drop in. But worth it for the improvement! Way more definition, way more control with the 3 band eq with switchable mid freq, better balance between neck and bridge pups. And more output after bumping up the dial on the pre a bit. Super happy with it!

As for the install, we needed to shave some wood from the J-pup opening to get it to fit, we needed to ream out the holes for the eq pots, and we needed to unsolder and resolder the volume pot to the pre as there was not enough ground wire to reach and barely enough lead wire. So thankfully I didn't try to do it myself, I would have been screwed. But with a little know how and the right tools it wasn't too tough.

Hey guys. Greetings from Turkey. I want ask something. There is no official Brubaker seller. But I find some basses in our country. Their prices are low. Seller said "they defectived when it comesi I repaired them.". How can I check their serial numbers for authenticity and stability? here is a photo.(Sorry for my bad English :D).

Did not read the whole thread so apologies if i am covering old ground. The web has numerous Brubaker basses for $350, these are B stock and include the SC models (MIC). Are these suckers any good?
This is one of the ones I purchased. The seller was up front about issues (all were cosmetic flaws) and sent many photos of the basses in question. They had a Tobacco-burst that was pretty well flawless in the photos left the other day.

Hey folks.
I just bought a factory second Brute MJX in natural for my "modern" country gig.
I liked the looks, liked the options, LOVED the price.
Looking through this thread, I've gathered that a coil splitter for the MM is a good idea, but i'm also thinking of converting it to passive/making it switchable.
How does the Brute do passive? Anyone done this?

Or i'll drop in some Nordstrand Big Splits eventually. Maybe.

(Bass should be in Thursday. I'll post pics then)

without the pickguard you have all the electronics exposed an no place to mount the knobs. so pretty much no, can't go without one.

As for the eq frequencies on the stock preamp, the manual actually doesn't say... [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Email Kevin, I bet you get an answer quickly. I had a question about specs for replacement pickups and got a speedy reply. [email protected]

Ha! I just bought a mjx for the red dirt Texas country gig that I play in. I've also been wondering about how to make it passive switchable!
