Brutal Glam Metal?

When I hear "glam metal" I want to puke. When I hear somebody talk about "brutal" music I just have to laugh.

So brutal glam metal would be something that makes me laugh while puking...hmmm....got it:

Check out Black Veil Brides, Pantera’s first album Cowboys From Hell, Baby Metal, Steel Panther... I’m sure there’s others, but this should get you on the right track.

I would go as far as to say 100% of music is made up. Anything having to do with music therefore also 100% artificial.

That being said, "brutal" and "glam" in the same descriptive phrase seems ironic....maybe even an oxymoron.

I love me some metal micro-genres, but I have to agree that brutal glam is oxymoronic.

There are such bands in Japan.

NOT Baby Metal which is possibly brutally obnoxious but not at all "brutal".

I have seen bands there in clubs that had a glam look while playing grind/death music.

Genre labels are useful to those who enjoy discussing music, no different than the utility in terms describing the various and quite varied periods of Miles Davis' career.

I think Brutal Glam Metal is these different metal bands from the 70's, back when they were ripped and solid young men in leather, now touring with wrinkles, beer bellies, and AARP discounts at Denny's after the gigs, still wearing that wardrobe, let out a few sizes . . . . .

I think they're more shock-metal. Metal because they're certainly heavy with harsh vocals, and shock because a lot of their musical, and artistic as a whole, image is based on horror and non-conformity.

Now *this* is shock metal!
