Bugera Bass Amps???

Serious question, do you decide what to use (or in this case not) based on what you read about it?

I recently read that they rate their amps at about 4x their actual power. But this seemed to ignore that they rated at peak, not rms. Minor detail I guess.

My advice (all $.02 worth) is that TB is definitely a great starting point for info but the real test is getting your hands on things and deciding if they work for you. And understand that a lot of advice you'll get is from people who didn't bother to do that themselves.

This, while clearly your opinion, is so full of awesome statements, I truly enjoyed it. You nailed me to a "T"... I bought mine because I actually thought I was getting a car in my amp. And while I bought mine from a local independent brick and mortar store, it might as well have been a Guitar Center.

I particularly enjoyed again, the intense opinions of a product that come from a person with no actual experience. I've never tried that, the very though of doing that triggered my shame gene.

It's a frickin' amp and while I actually do respect your right to your opinion, massive contradictions and all, I'm hoping you don't make the mistake of investing this much energy in the other things in your life that come from other corporations. Your search for altruism may become exhausting. In the meantime my toy amp helped me make $500 last Saturday night (40 minute, four song concert set). No clowns came out of it, no overly long scarves or rabbits popped out of it. Just great sound with zero drama that the sound techs loved. Of course they didn't know any better either.

This does present a quandry though... wouldn't the fact that I'm a pro and it's gear that I use make it pro gear in my case? The again you're saying it's not pro gear, it's not amateur gear, it's not even gear. You just blew my mind. Thanks.

Don't you just love all the 'real world' opinions?! As a 'real world' user of Behringer equipment, I have never witnessed a failure, fire or explosion of any of the products I've owned or used by a band I was in. And I say again, these negative opinions are but a small %! Behringer is doing quite well. If their products are so bad, how are they still in business?!

I like to read about people's experiences about a product before I buy it. I have owned a behringer head (a BX450 i think?), but sold it becuase of money issues. It was a very powerful amp, very loud. I felt like it could last through a gig. For me its hard for me to test out items before I buy, since there is no GC's within 100 miles and my local music stores do not carry Bugera items. So I have to do research and decide if I want it. It is the best looking bass head out there IMO, and if it is anything like my previous behringer head, it will be immensly powerful. With that being said though, I have a Fender Rumble 500 combo with the matching 2x10 extension cab which is very loud and sounds good, but I was wanting something more powerful. If the amp is rated at 4x their actual power like you said, that means that the amp will be rated at 500watts. My current setup is 500 watts at 4 ohms.

I live in a major metropolitan area and it's still hard to check out a large variety of gear. That's why I seek out liberal return policies that will allow me to check things out, online or local and if they really don't work for me maybe I'll be out shipping.

I'ved used a Rumble 500. Very nice amp. This amp is on another level IMO.

Yeah from the looks of it and the stats on the amp, it looks like it could be a good amp. If I were to get it, I would get the bugera 4x10 cab. Have you played those? What do you have your bugera head paired with?

This was the behringer amp that I owned. It felt a little cheap, but it sounded nice. It was 1/2 what the Bugera cost.

I've only tried the smaller Bugera cabs at the store I bought mine from. I work with Boom Bass Cabinets and we recommend the Veyrons because while our cabs will run well with 500wrms they really open up with more power. And the price is just icing on the cake. We have no affiliation with Behringer.

Indeed:D. I love gigs like that. They had backlined an Ampeg SVT rig (810 and tube head) and when I arrived for soundcheck they asked if that was okay. I asked if they'd mind if I used my rig. Turns out the headliner didn't have a bassist so they had gotten the rig just for me. If they had asked beforehand I could've saved them that money. I used my Veyron and my cab and the rig raised some eyebrows... this tiny little setup sitting in front of the fridge.

For those that are happy using Bugera, carry on with your enjoyment.

For those unhappy with the idea of Bugera, carry on with your enjoyment of being unhappy.
