Bugera Bass Amps???

I was looking at one of the ads here on TB and saw that it was for a Bugera Veyron Tube Bass Head. It looks amazing!

Has anyone ever played/owned/tried one of these? It looks almost too good to be true (2000 watts for only $500) Also has anyone ever tried the Bugera BN410TS cab? I was thinking about getting these two and playing with them. Is the power handling on both exaggerated? The cab is listed at 2800 watts, yet it only cost $550. Need some input on this... Thanks!!

Must be nice to not do ANY R&D or design leg work as well as overstate your power ratings 4x.

I have a few Behringer products like mixers & poweramps. All gear that many companies make & are all pretty similar. This is too far over the line for me personally. Its a clear copy of a specific product in all areas, its gutless & I will refuse to buy Behringer products going further.

Played my Streamliner today & it was wonderful, get a used on on Talkbass instead & you'll get your support here too if needed while you have NO chance of that with Behringer.

Aesthetically they look similar but on the inside they are not the same. They may not be for you but there tons of folks using Behringer products. They do design their own electronics but keep the aesthetic similarities. Uli has admitted to such. Those who don't dig Behringer are but a very small %.

They have some good products (mixers, poweramps), the bass amps I've heard & tried aren't. Their PA speakers, not good either. Point is that a REAL Streamliner can be had used now for cheap money, more reliable, better support, better sound & you dont support a company thats blatantly stealing from companies that are on Talkbass innovating, supporting us, doing the right thing. Thats all.

How do you know the other brands are much more reliable and sturdy the the Bugera Veyron?

Btw. I do own a US made BBE Bmax-T and I had more trouble with this unit (that's why I don't use it live anymore) then my Bugera BVP5500

Exactly. The amp just came out. Have not heard anything negative about them besides the wattage claims. I know several very good bassists who own one and they have nothing but good things to say about them.

I've never looked inside that particular amp, but Bugera stuff generally uses absolute bargain basement components and skimps on build quality. Their products are also generally not meant to be repaired - when something goes wrong you'll find that you've got a disposable amplifier once the warranty is up. This is just their business model.

Their low prices aren't the result of magic. You can't get top notch quality (like you'd find in a real GB Streamliner) at these super low prices.

Their stuff generally does sound pretty good, though. If you're not looking for heirloom quality gear, there's nothing wrong with the stuff aside from their questionable specs. Buyers just need to keep in mind that the low purchase price isn't entirely free. You can buy a Bugera amp, and have something that sounds pretty darn good until it dies.

I can tell from the innards of the BVP5500 that it's build very solid (mechanically) and tidy, most components may not be high-end but they do their job (very good). It even has these tube shock absorbers which the BBE doesn't have). The only thing I changed myself are two of the four tubes, but that's because I liked the sound of these NOS Philips tubes more then the stock ones.

Not all Bugera stuff may be build that way but the BVVP5500 is.
