Due to a request by my better half on not spraying in the garage I decided to use a brush to apply the polyurethane. Big mistake!!! Bubbles everywhere. Gonna need to let it dry completely then hit it with the some emery cloth or steel wool, and then use a tack-rag on it to make sure it's clean. I'm going to spray the poly on from this point forward.

Official leathers tester and crash dummy
Here is mine, its a dirnt roadworn neck, slab body (not rounded) with forearm/gut cuts, gotoh vintage light weight tuners, and pinstripe guard with fralin split p 5% overwind. Its light and 8.2 lbs.

I bought the guard from axtreme creations, its an iridescent picture of tiger stripe under clear plexi, its made to fit a sting bass, but I wish it was wider at the horns like a 51 bass pickguard, but thats nitpicking I suppose.
Pep, I would not route the body, I would use a sanding head on a dremel and sand down the pickup, thats what I did to my fralin split, it didn’t quite fit either. Did you get standard? 5% or 10% overwind?
I went with 5% to be middle of the road, for a while I was toting with sendingit in for a 10%, but the feeling passed.

I got the standard. It appears that the clearance problem exists at the radiused ends which should be a simple fix. I hope to us Meguiar's Cleaner Wax on the finish of the body today. I used semi-gloss polyurethane so it shouldn't take much to bring the shine up a bit.

A friend of mine has a Fender Precision reissue. It appears to be a perhaps a late 50s version. He wants to relic it so that'll be my next project. Kinda' looking forward to it.
I'd sure like to have a '54 P style bass, blonde or butterscotch, but in a five-string version. Not distressed or anything, just kinda what one would look like if they made one back then 'cept for a five-saddle bridge, maybe split pickup, I just want the flavor.
The problem with a 5 string version (a build that I'm contemplating myself currently) is the head stock. Does one go with the slightly dorky and long 5 tuners in a row? Or go 4+1 fender Style or even consider a G&L style 3+2? It's a tough call. Also there aren't any chrome covers available for 5 string versions...which is a pity.
The only one I’ve seen like that is a bridge put out by Wilkinson. I think they may be out of production because I’ve recently tried to find one but with no luck.
Fender bender ans sneha1965 are correct, bridge is out of production, I trolled ebay and reverb for a month until I saw these come up, if you are persistent and patient you can get one. Another option is having Evan webb at webtecca make you some angled saddles if you tell him the degree of angle. Its tricky with this bridge because the way mine are set to have near perfect intonation, is not what I would have used on a 4 saddle bridge. Good luck!
