Building '54 P-Bass

Sorry for the delay. Had some gigs and rehearsals. I pressed the bushings in and mounted 3 tuners. The 4th One didn’t Fit the bushing ID. There Was a taper in the bore and it was too small on the bottom end to allow the tuner peg to fit properly.
One new bushing on the way.

While we're waiting here's one built last summer. Came out great except it's more than a pound over my target. The body is too heavy, it plays and sounds excellent but I try to not gig with basses that hurt my back anymore. It only took me a week or two to find the Wilkensen bridge on EB.

Is this the white blonde Squier with a painted guard?. Seems familiar.

That looks great. Mine may be a little heavy as well, but we'll see. Bushing should be in tomorrow. I can't wait to get it done. I'm pretty sure that I won't mount a pickguard. The grain looks too nice. The only chrome on the bass will be the control plate (with black knobs). I'm wondering if that will look okay or if I should make that black as well.

The ‘54 will be done by tomorrow and possibly tonite. I will post complete pics when finished. It’s been a long process but the finished product will be worth it.
The sustain on this bass is going to be unbelievable.

It’s finally done and I absolutely love it. It’s a little heavier than some of my other basses but it’ll be a keeper and a player!

Here is mine, its a dirnt roadworn neck, slab body (not rounded) with forearm/gut cuts, gotoh vintage light weight tuners, and pinstripe guard with fralin split p 5% overwind. Its light and 8.2 lbs.
