Bruce, I realise the gold standard is one of your DASR rods and carbon fibre between the heel and fret 5. If I just wanted to avoid the ski jump, what's your view on using a normal DA rod with the carbon fibre tow just at the bottom of the channel.....? (Oh, and you have DM!)

Hey John;

The carbon fiber TOW "backstrap" will work with any kind of truss rod. It doesn't interfere with, or have anything to do with the function of the truss rod. The backstrap only prevents stretching of the wood at the very back of the neck, to prevent the dreaded Ski Jump/12th Fret Kink.

So yes, go ahead and put it in under a standard DADR truss rod. Either from the top, down deep in the slot under the rod, or from the bottom in a skunk stripe. The important thing is that the back strap ends up as close to the final back surface as you dare.
