Butterscotch P Bass

What do y'all think of the butterscotch colour P bass that Fender released (I think first) last year?

It's kind of dark for my taste. Wish they had gone with a lighter, less artificial looking butterscotch blonde. Not as bad as the 51 RI though.

I have one, and I'm mixed about it; sometimes I love it, sometimes I think it looks like plastic mustard. I think it looks better on stage than up close.

Lighter would be better, IMHO, too.
Needless to say the '51 looks like French's mustard, which is great ONLY on burnt weenies!!!

I owned an ash-bodied butterscotch blonde MIA Deluxe jazz w/maple fretboard for awhile.

I always thought the color looked OK, especially with the maple board.

I love the butterscotch '51 P bass. In fact I have a sunburst Sting signature P bass that I would trade even for a '51 reissue butterscotch bass if anyone is interested.

This finish is available on ash bodies for the Am Deluxe Series, but on alder bodies for Am "standard" Series. And from what I've seen, it looks nice on ash but looks cheapo on alder.

This one? I think it looks good. There are worse and better colors, IMO.

Saxnbass, don't trust the pics. I had one, in real situation, here in my studio. That was an American Series J, the latest ones with the S1 switch. Believe me, this butterscotch blonde tint on alder body looked cheapo, really. Yesterday, at my local dealer, I was surprised by a butterscotch blonde Am Dlx J, and it looks very nice on ash body. But on alder I don't like it at all. But that's just my very personal opinion.

This is alder, 2006 - it seems darker than the ash body. Kinda baby poop yellow.

Anyway, looks like I own it now, so I'll what it looks like up close.
