I do not agree that a P is the best bass for most genres. It is great and I love playing it nonetheless. I do feel that every bassist should have owned at least one P in their lifetime as it is the daddy.

These two basses are Japanese. The P is new, the J I have owned for a number of years now.

This particular P is a Japanese market only "seventies reissue" model. I have upgraded its pickup to a '62 custom shop model. The neck profile is different from a standard Precision bass. It is a very nice instrument, especially for its price level.

Don't be offended by the J that's also in this image, both these basses are totally awesome but totally different beasties.
