Buyer using Zelle does this look like fraud?

Buyer wants to buy bass using Zelle for $1500.
Email arrives from "Zelle" that $1500 cannot be deposited into my account because I do NOT have a business account and tells buyer to send $500 more.
Buyer agrees to sent $500 more and asks me to refund him.
Zelle supposedly now will put $2000 on hold until I ship the bass but buyer wants $500 refunded right away. Email from Zelle shows zelle pay ([email protected])
Looks like fraud to ME!

Yeah. No. Let him use another pay service. He wants the bass, let him do the work. Stinks to me.

Cash must clear first or forget it. Nothing gets refunded until you have sorted it all out. Unless you can simply cancel it all. Buyer has to be patient or no bass. Sounds fishy to me.

I've never used Zelle but it's a common scam on other platforms. They urge you to ship it so "funds can be released", you ship it, they payment is reversed/doesn't clear, you're left with no bass and no money.

THIS is why I always buy from a business. This smells way too much like fish . . . . . I don't know if this technically is fraud, but if it were me, I wouldn't touch this with a 20-foot pole.

I’ve used Zelle many times and never heard of the “hold” or “sending more money and the refunding”.

Biggest tell is the "@aol.com". 100% a scam. You never got any money, yet they're trying to make you think you did so you send a bass. Zelle may be a legit service, however what you are dealing with is not that business. They're simply trying to appear legit, but the AOL email is a dead giveaway.

Tell him that you will put $500 in cash in the packaging with the bass AFTER you have cleared the $2000 in your account. Whether you do or not would be on you. All kidding aside, this is obviously a scam. Zelle is not a marketplace, it is a money transfer tool between bank accounts. You say transfer this, they transfer that. They don't care if the package is shipped or not or if there is a package at all.
